Back at it again with the waiver wire for week 9, and I’m excited to bring you the guys I think can affect your team going forward. Its week 9 and that means its playoff push time, so the waiver wire is more essential then ever. These players that made the waiver wire can either help you win now or can help you win down the line, either way, they should add something to your team. Hopefully you enjoy this article and good luck with your Week 9 matchups.
Quarterback
Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (ESPN-0.9%)
In the 4 games Taysom Hill started last season, he averaged 208.5 passing yards and 52.8 rushing yards. He averaged 28.5 pass attempts per game while completing 72% of them. Furthermore, Hill averaged nearly 10 rushing attempts per game during that period.pic.twitter.com/S8TGTvZFVh

Hill still needs to clear concussion protocol, but when he does he’ll become a big part of this offense. The unfortunate injury to Jameis Winston has officially ended his season and opened up the starting role for Hill to take. This of course means its going to be cringy to watch the Saints play football, but knowing everytime they are in the red zone there’s a good chance Hill will run it in should give people some confidence picking him up. When he’s healthy he’ll off Jalen Hurts-esque numbers and will most likely score in most games.
Tyrod Taylor, Houston Texans (ESPN-3.9%)
Designated to return this week, Tyrod Taylor could be a good player to grab to fill in for 2 QB league bye weeks. Taylor when he was on the field threw for 416 yards and 3 TDs, while rushing for 55 yards and another TD in 1 and a half games played. Taylor will come back to an emerging Nico Collins and a pissed-off Brandin Cooks, so maybe he can make the most of these two and the rest of the offense. No one expects Taylor to be a QB1 but if he can have some reliable QB2 weeks then he won’t kill your team when you need him.
Running Back
Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles (ESPN-4.9%)
So Boston Scott, not Kenneth Gainwell was the main recipient of the Eagles rushing workload in Week 8. Scott out-snapped Gainwell 29 to 20 and used his snaps well, carrying the ball 12 times for 60 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns. Trying to predict this Eagles backfield has been infuriating, but hopefully, Scott can lock down the top RB spot while Miles Sanders is on the IR. If there’s anyone to look into for this week it’s Scott. H’ell get another easy matchup on the ground against the fluttering LA Chargers.
Jeff Wilson Jr, San Francisco 49ers (ESPN-5.7%)

This is a move that may be a week in advance, but go out and get Jeff Wilson. I’m going to give you guys some insight into why you want to pick up Wilson. First off Elijah Mitchell came out of the Week 8 game hampered with a rib injury. Now this doesn’t mean automatically Wilson will be tagged in to take on the RB1 workload, but it does open up some carries to be shared in San Fran. Placing a waiver on Wilson a week early should increase your chances of acquiring him. If you are still on the fringe just remember this guy was an RB1 multiple weeks last year.
Wide Receiver
Jamal Agnew, Jacksonville Jaguars (ESPN-1.7%)

Week 2: 102 yard return TD
Week 3: NFL record 109 yard return TD
Week 4: One of the best catches of the year

Agnew was targeted 12 times in a beatdown last week against the Seahawks. For me, this shows who Trevor Lawrence trusts in this offense and that is Agnew and Dan Arnold. Agnew has been targeted 25 times over the past 3 weeks and saw the field for 72% of the snaps in Week 8. This is a guy who is cheap in redraft and dynasty and could pay off in PPR leagues as a flex.
Jamison Crowder, New York Jets (ESPN-18.7%)
Crowder is back to being the most consistently targeted player in New York. Tallying 30 targets in his four games this year. That volume alone makes him a solid flex, then take into account his PPR value and we could be talking a solid WR3 in spot start situations. Seriously though, Crowder is coming off an 8 reception, 84-yard game. If the Jets keep this newfound energy going into Week 9 then look for Crowder to be a factor in the offense.
Tight End
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers (ESPN-8%)

— PFF PIT Steelers (@PFF_Steelers) October 31, 2021
Back to back 7 target games for Freiermuth have intrigued fantasy managers. With the tight end pool being as unreliable as ever it’s good to see a guy who is consistently targeted. While Freiermuth isn’t gaining the most yards with his receptions, he will pose a week-to-week TD threat in this Steelers offense. This guy isn’t a bad `option for a spot start or maybe to replace an injured player (such as Robert Tonyan).
Dan Arnold, Jacksonville Jaguars (ESPN-3.7%)
Just like Freiermuth, Dan Arnold should be intriguing to fantasy managers because he is getting a lot of volume in the Jaguar offense. The past three weeks, Arnold has been targeted 23 times, and that’s something to look at on the waiver wire. Who’s getting volume in their offense and is it consistent. The one thing you can say about Arnold since joining the Jags is he’s been consistently drawing targets. Arnold has put together two games with 6+ receptions and 60+ yards. The tight end seems like he has a role with this offense and that should attract fantasy managers.
