Just like Nawj hitting a crucial chip on a blitzing linebacker, we’re going to make sure nothing gets by, all so you can make the plays you need to reach fantasy football paydirt. It’s down, it’s dirty. It’s the Week 2 Blitz Pickup!

Week 2 Blitz Pickup: Thursday Night

The Chief of Chiefs continued his roaring start to the season.

Chargers 24 at Chiefs 27

Justin Herbert suffered a rib injury and will be questionable for Week 3… Austin Ekeler saw more snaps and doubled his usage in the pass game from Week 1 to Week 2… Zander Horvath saw fewer snaps, but vultured another goal line touchdown… Sony Michel‘s usage dropped from 23.9 percent of snaps to 12… Mike Williams (10) led Joshua Palmer (eight) in targets and was WR8 on the week… Palmer led all Chargers wideouts in snaps played… Gerald Everett (TE8) saw 10 targets, second-most among tight ends in Week 2… Tre’ McKitty played 52 percent of snaps but did not see a target…

Patrick Mahomes has seven touchdowns without a turnover this season… Jerick McKinnon slightly out-snapped Clyde Edwards-Helaire 27-25… CEH was the clear lead back in usage again and is RB6 on the season… After a nice Week 1, Isiah Pacheco was a non-factor… Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster have operated as the Chiefs’ top-two wide receivers, but Mecole Hardman has been the most effective from a fantasy standpoint…

Week 2 Blitz Pickup: Sunday Early Games

Well, that was unexpected. In every way.

Dolphins 42 at Ravens 38

Before Sunday, Tua Tagovailoa had thrown more than two touchdowns in an NFL game only once (four, Week 7, 2021)… Tagovailoa tied the Miami record with his six touchdown passes… It was Tagovailoa’s first career 400-yard passing game… Raheem Mostert out-snapped Chase Edmonds 39-36 but far out-touched him with 11 rush attempts and three targets… Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill each had 11 receptions and two scores… Through two weeks, Waddle’s 19 targets Sunday are the highest game total of any wideout… Mike Gesicki saw four targets on 44 snaps, catching all for 41 yards and a score… Gesicki was TE5 on the week with 14.1 points, his best fantasy day since Week 7 last season…

Lamar Jackson (119 yards) had his best rushing day since Week 9 of 2021… Since the start of the 2019 season, only Aaron Rodgers (43.76, Week 7, 2019) and Justin Herbert (42.82, Week 5, 2020) have had a better single-game score at quarterback than Jackson’s 42.62 this week… Justice Hill led Raven tailbacks in snaps… No Baltimore running back had more than 1.6 points in the game… J.K. Dobbins is questionable but has practiced all week… Rashod Bateman is the clear lead wideout, but Demarcus Robinson received the only two redzone targets among Ravens’ wide receivers… Mark Andrews lead the team in targets and receptions… Andrews leads all tight ends in receptions through two games… Baltimore has given up the most fourth quarter points of any team in the league…

Jets 31 at Browns 30

Joe Flacco (103) leads the league in pass attempts… Flacco had four touchdown passes for the first time since Week 13 of 2016 and just the third time in his career… Michael Carter continued to play the most snaps, but Breece Hall has been more effective and seen more redzone usage… Despite being third among Jets’ receivers in snaps, Garrett Wilson caught eight of 14 targets for 102 yards and two scores and was the league’s WR3 on the week… Wilson leads all receivers with eight redzone targets… Tyler Conklin (70) played the second-most snaps of any tight end in the league…

Jacoby Brissett completed 81.5 percent of his passes, behind only Trevor Lawrence and Jalen Hurts on the week… Nick Chubb‘s three rushing touchdowns tied a career high set in Week 4 of 2019… After two weeks, Chubb sits at overall RB1… Kareem Hunt‘s usage has him as a top-10 running back as well… Amari Cooper led Browns’ wide receivers in snaps and was WR9 on the week… After seeing 11 targets in Week 1, Donovan Peoples-Jones was held without a catch on one target… Harrison Bryant was again more effective than David Njoku in far fewer snaps… Cade York‘s failed extra point attempt in the fourth quarter was his first career missed kick… After two games, Cleveland has given up the second-most fourth quarter points of any team in the league…

Commanders 27 at Lions 36

Carson Wentz (QB4) is tied for the league lead in touchdown passes and second in yardage after two weeks… Antonio Gibson continues to be the main rushing back, while J.D. McKissic has been almost exclusively used in the pass game only… Despite fewer snaps and only three rush attempts, McKissic’s seven receptions allowed him to outscore Gibson in Week 2… Jahan Dotson led the team’s wide receivers in snaps, but both Curtis Samuel and Terry McLaurin were utilized more… Entering Week 3, Samuel is WR8… Logan Thomas is TE11 on the season…

Jared Goff had four touchdowns without an interception for the first time since 2018, when he accomplished the feat three times… Through two weeks, D’Andre Swift is averaging 10.0 yards per carry, more than any other back in the league with multiple rushing attempts… Jamaal Williams leads the team in rush attempts and is tied with Jonathan Taylor and Kareem Hunt for redzone rush attempts after two games with nine… Amon-Ra St. Brown had his first career multiple-touchdown game… T.J. Hockenson is tied for ninth among tight ends in targets, but is 48th in yards per target…

Buccaneers 20 at Saints 10

Tom Brady (QB29) is only completing 59 percent of passes on the season thus far… Leonard Fournette has played 81.4 percent of snaps, third-highest among running backs in the league… The league suspended Mike Evans for Week 3 for his role in a major altercation during the game… Julio Jones and Chris Godwin both missed the game with injuries… Cameron Brate only out-snapped rookie Cade Otton 38-33… Both tight ends caught one of two targets…

Jameis Winston threw three interceptions… Winston had thrown three interceptions in his previous 12 games combined going back to Week 9 of 2020… Alvin Kamara missed the game with an injury… In Kamara’s absence, Mark Ingram led Saints running backs in snaps, rushes, and targets… New Orleans signed Latavius Murray to the practice squad… Chris Olave‘s 13 targets were the most by a Saints’ wideout since Emmanuel Sanders in Week 17 of 2020… Juwan Johnson led the team’s tight ends in snaps and was the only tight end to see a target with seven…

Panthers 16 at Giants 19

Baker Mayfield is completing just 53.6 percent of his passes on the year… Christian McCaffrey has played 86.5 percent of snaps, tops among the league’s running backs… D.J. Moore has 12 targets on 109 snaps this season (11 percent), but only six receptions and is WR41…

Daniel Jones is fourth among quarterbacks in rushing attempts, but only averaging 2.9 yards per rush… Entering 2022, Jones’s career average was 5.8 yards per rush… Saquon Barkley (overall RB2) has played 83.5 percent of snaps, second among the league’s running backs… Kenny Golladay played just two snaps and is quite upsetRichie James is third on the team in wide receiver snaps, second in wide receiver fantasy points, and second overall in targets… No, you didn’t misread that… No, I didn’t know who he was, either…

Patriots 17 at Steelers 14

Mac Jones is tied for 11th in the league in yards per attempt among starting quarterbacks… Damien Harris scored the only touchdown by a Patriots’ running back through the first two games on a third quarter rush… Rhamondre Stevenson played 61.8 percent of snaps compared to just 39.7 for Harris… Harris had 17 touches to just 10 for Stevenson… Devante Parker has played more snaps than any other Patriots’ receiver this season, yet has just four targets and 1.9 fantasy points… Meanwhile, Jakobi Meyers is WR23 on the season… Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry have each played 78 snaps… Smith has out-targeted Henry seven to four. They are TE40 and TE49, respectively…

Mitch Trubisky had a completion percentage of only 59 after two weeks… Najee Harris has averaged only 2.48 yards per carry through two games… After seeing only two targets Week 1, Harris saw six in Week 2… Diontae Johnson was tied for ninth in wide receiver targets after two games… Pat Freiermuth (TE7) is third in tight end targets league-wide with 17 through two weeks…

Colts 0 at Jaguars 24

Matt Ryan (QB30) is tied for ninth in the league in passing yards, but has just one touchdown pass and four interceptions… With 80 attempts through two games, Ryan would rank around QB15 at his career completion and touchdown percentages… (This means better days are coming)… Jonathan Taylor scored 6.3 fantasy points in Week 2, his fewest since Week 2 of 2021… Despite playing the most snaps of any Colts’ receiver in Week 2, Parris Campbell went without a catch on only two targets… In an almost identical timeshare with Mo Alie-Cox, Kylen Granson has been the more utilized tight end for the Colts…

Trevor Lawrence is completing 68.1 percent of his passes… James Robinson has over twice as many touches as Travis Etienne… Robinson has only out-snapped Etienne 79-62… Christian Kirk (WR7) has a 26.5 percent target share… Evan Engram has caught 11 of 12 targets, the highest percentage in the league among tight ends with 10 or more targets…

Falcons 27 at Rams 31

Marcus Mariota is third in rushing yards among quarterbacks this season… Tyler Allgeier had 10 carries for 30 yards on 19 snaps in his debut after Atlanta added Damien Williams to IR… Cordarrelle Patterson played 59 percent of snaps but saw just 10 carries and one target… After seven fairly quiet targets in Week 1, Drake London caught 8 of 12 targets for 86 yards and a touchdown against the Rams and finished as WR10 on the week… London played 50 snaps; the rest of the Falcons’ wideouts played 56 combined… Although he played 57 snaps (more than any Atlanta skill player except Mariota), Kyle Pitts saw just 3 targets among Mariota’s 26 pass attempts…

Matthew Stafford threw at least three touchdowns for the tenth time since joining the Rams at the start of 2021… Stafford threw multiple interceptions for the fifth straight regular season game… The snap count for Darrell Henderson (35) and Cam Akers (27) was much more even than in Week 1… Akers actually out-touched Henderson, with 17 touches to just 10 carries and no targets for Henderson (though Henderson scored more for fantasy purposes)… Cooper Kupp saw double-digit targets (14) for the 16th time since the start of the 2021 season… Tyler Higbee has played a higher percentage of his team’s snaps (96.1) and has more targets through two games than any other tight end…

Week 2 Blitz Pickup: Sunday Late Games

Like a Madden cheat code. This is one game film Kyler will probably watch on repeat.

Cardinals 29 at Raiders 23 (OT)

Kyler Murray attempted 49 passes for the fourth time in his career… Murray’s rushing touchdown was his first since Week 13 of 2021… James Conner suffered an injury that has him questionable to play in Week 3… Darrel Williams and Eno Benjamin worked an almost 50/50 split snap-wise and workload-wise, with Williams scoring a touchdown… Rondale Moore did not play due to an injury and has already been ruled out for Week 3… Greg Dortch was third in wide receiver snaps but caught all four of his targets for 55 yards and a score…

Derek Carr had 210 passing yards in the first half but only 42 yards after halftime… Josh Jacobs had 20 of the 22 touches by Raiders’ running backs in the game… Davante Adams saw only seven targets, behind both Mack Hollins and Hunter Renfrow… Renfrow suffered a concussion that has him ruled out for Week 3… Darren Waller scored his first touchdown since Week 4 of 2021…

Seahawks 7 at 49ers 27

Geno Smith was QB30 on the week… Travis Homer led the backfield in snaps played (22), targets (four), and fantasy points (8.2)… Kenneth Walker III made his debut, catching two of three targets to go with four carries… One week after leading Seattle running backs in every category, Rashaad Penny gained just 15 yards on six carries and did not see a target… Tyler Lockett led Seattle wideouts in offensive production. He and D.K. Metcalf played the same number of snaps…

Trey Lance suffered a severe ankle injury and was placed on season-ending IR… Jimmy Garoppolo was 13/21 for 154 yards and a touchdown after taking over… Jeff Wilson had over 100 total yards and led the team in running back touches… Tyrion Davis-Price suffered an ankle injury that will keep him out for Week 3… Jordan Mason was active but did not record a touch… Brandon Aiyuk led the entire offense in snaps and targets… Deebo Samuel had nine total touches (five receptions, four rushes)… George Kittle did not play…

Bengals 17 at Cowboys 20

In the first two weeks, Joe Burrow has been sacked 13 timesJoe Mixon has played 126 snaps, the most by any running back in the league through two weeks, and has the third-highest rushing share… Mixon is the highest-scoring running back without a touchdown on the season… After only two targets in Week 1, Tee Higgins led the team with 10 in the game… Hayden Hurst is tied for second in snaps per game and tied for sixth in targets among tight ends…

Cooper Rush had the second-best fantasy score of his career… Ezekiel Elliott out-snapped Tony Pollard 41-24, but Pollard was far more effective rushing and receiving… CeeDee Lamb led the Cowboys’ wide receivers in snaps and targets for the second consecutive week, but Noah Brown was again the leading fantasy scorer… Dalton Schultz suffered a knee injury and did not play the final drive of the game… Schultz will be questionable for Week 3’s Monday Night game…

Texans 9 at Broncos 16

Davis Mills did not throw a touchdown for the first time since Week 13 of 2021… His 50 percent completion percentage was his lowest since that same Week 13 game… After playing only 20 snaps in the opener, Dameon Pierce led the Texans’ running backs in snaps and operated as the lead running back, taking all 15 backfield rushing attempts… In 23 snaps, Rex Burkhead saw three targets to one for Pierce… Nico Collins saw his targets triple from Week 1 to Week 2… Brevin Jordan was limited by an ankle injury that has him ruled Out for Week 3… Pharaoh Brown continues to operate as the team’s number one tight end…

Russell Wilson‘s 45.2 completion percentage was his lowest since Week 10 of 2015 (43.8)… Javonte Williams (47) had over twice the snaps of Melvin Gordon (23) and out-touched him 16-11… Neither Denver running back has scored a touchdown yet… Jerry Jeudy suffered an injury that has him listed as questionable for Week 3… Continuing a trend, Albert Okwuegbunam by far out-snapped the other Denver tight ends, but continues to share minimal targets…

Bears 10 at Packers 27

Justin Fields ranks 32nd in completion percentage and has the fewest pass attempts (28) of any quarterback to play two full games… David Montgomery‘s 122 yards rushing were his most since Week 15 of 2020… Additionally, Montgomery played 33 snaps to just 8 for Khalil HerbertDarnell Mooney caught one of two targets for negative-four yards… Through two games, Cole Kmet has no catches on just two targets…

Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon split snaps 40 to 39 and had 18 and 19 touches, respectively… Jones’s 132 rushing yards were his most since Week 15 of 2020… Allen Lazard led Green Bay’s wide receivers in snaps in his return to the lineup and scored the first touchdown by a Packers’ wideout this season… Sammy Watkins‘s hamstring injury will keep him out for at least four games… Thus far, Robert Tonyan has only seven targets (one redzone target)…

Week 2 Blitz Pickup: Monday Night Games

Vikings at Eagles

Kirk Cousins threw more interceptions (three) than touchdowns (one) for the first time since Week 2 of 2020… Dalvin Cook‘s six rushing attempts were the fewest of his career… Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson rank eighth and ninth among receivers in percentage of snaps played… Jefferson is in the top 10 in every fantasy-relevant cumulative statistical category… Irv Smith saw eight targets, second most in his career, and played the most snaps of any Viking tight end…

For the sixth time in his career, Jalen Hurts had multiple rushing touchdowns… Miles Sanders played 53.4 percent of snaps and out-touched the other Eagle running backs 20-8… After going without a catch in Week 1, DeVonta Smith caught all seven of his targets in Week 2… Dallas Goedert is tenth in snap percentage among tight ends, but only has one redzone target…

Titans 7 at Bills 41

Malik Willis completed one pass and attempted four rushes in his first career game action… Hassan Haskins ran nine times for 37 yards and caught a pass for his first career touches… Robert Woods led the Titans’ receivers in snaps, but starters for the most part were pulled early in the blowout… Treylon Burks led the Titans in targets…

Josh Allen had four touchdown passes for the sixth time in his career… Allen’s lone rushing attempt was his fewest attempts in a full game in his career… James Cook led the team in rushing in late mop-up duty… Devin Singletary saw the most snaps among Buffalo running backs… Stefon Diggs garnered 15 targets on just 45 snaps… With Gabriel Davis out, Jake Kumerow played 77.9 percent of snaps to lead the receivers…
