Week 2 is in the books, and you are either 2-0, 1-1, or 0-2. Or maybe you tied, sucks for you. Who here is 0-0-2? But we wanna focus on what trends will continue, what is flukey, what is real, and what can we look forward to for the rest of the season? Every team has surprised and/or disappointed. Let’s go over the ramifications for fantasy. This article will cover every team, offer a brief overview, and let you know who you should panic on.
Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray is for real. 66.7 completion percentage, 2 passing and 3 rushing TDs to only 2bINTs, along with 158 yards rushing, and 516 passing? Against San Fran and a better than expected Washington defense? Mmmhmm. DeAndre Hopkins looks to be even better than expected, and likely locks down WR1 for the year if healthy. 25 targets, 22 catches, 219 yards, 1 TD, and a whole lot of happy Hopkins owners. Christian Kirk has disappointed, but that trend ends soon. Kenyan Drake concerns me. His 4.1 YPR combined with 3.5 YPC spell it out. He has lacked explosiveness. He is getting 20 touches a game, I just expected him to do more with them. Kyler will vulture, the concerns for Drake may stick around. Panic on Drake, keep it cool on Kirk. He is gonna find his way in this offense.
Atlanta Falcons
Julio never freaking scores! Ridley, however, does plenty, and he is currently soaring towards elite status as we speak. Matt Ryan has 6 TDs, 723 passing yards, and looks as fantasy relevant as ever. Gurley looks like poo poo stew mixed with Mountain Dew. I am not happy with him, and see no reason that changes. Hurst is proving Atlanta TEs remain viable. This offense is worthy of exposure, but the run game is concerning. Panic on Gurley, but everything else is happy happy happy in Atlanta.
Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson started 38/49, but has only thrown for 479 yards. his 4:0 TD:INT ratio impresses, but he has run less, which is good for his long term success, but as I suspected, bad for fantasy in the now. Mark Ingram is no longer a viable first option, he is averaging 11 touches per game. J.K. Dobbins has been much more explosive and will get more looks as the season progresses. Marquise Brown has consistently been targetted, and should only get better from here, he has shown enough to expect some scores to make his numbers look better. Andrews is elite, and he needs to see the ball more. I expect that happens, limiting the guys outside Hollywood and the backs. Panic on Ingram, but chill on Brown, and get ready for more Dobbins.
Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen you freak! a 70.4 completion percentage! He still makes those throws that make you go wtf, but he is actually leading the NFL in passing yardage heading into week 3, with 729. He also has a 6:0 TD:INT ratio, and 18 carries for 75 yards and another score. This guy is a fantasy monster. The backs are not impressing, and avoiding them is the right call until one takes over completely. Diggs is currently leading all players in receiving yards, with 239, and should find the end zone more as the familiarity grows. John Brown has also proven capable of producing as the WR2, and I see no reason that stops. Knox has yet to get as involved as I initially expected, but his breakout is just delayed. I still expect big things as the season progresses, but for now, be patient. I would panic about the backs, but not Knox.
Carolina Panthers
Christian McCaffrey is out for a few weeks? Holy crap this offense is gonna stink. Despite a 72.4 completion percentage and 636 yards, Teddy Bridgewater has a 1:2 TD:INT ratio. He just is not prolific. That one TD was a blown Robby Anderson bomb. Speaking of Anderson, he is still capable of being a deep threat. Because of this, and because Carolina will be behind a lot, he remains intriguing. But I would be panicking with every other guy. D. J. Moore seems to have whatever End Zone allergy Julio has, and Curtis Samuel has been an afterthought. There should be a lot of panicking in Carolina right now.
Chicago Bears
Would you look at Mitchell Trubisky go! 2-0, flirting with a 60 percent completion rate, a 5:2 TD:INT ratio, and utility on the ground make him a viable fantasy play based on matchups. He can be your backup QB. David Montgomery is seeing the volume you like, and is actually performing well. He isn’t blowing me up, but He seems a safe play. Tarik Cohen isn’t getting the touches, and that seriously concerns me. I am also concerned with Robinson, and his lack of overall production. Anthony Miller looked to break out Week 1, but tanked Week 2. It looks like there are real inconsistencies in this WR corps. Blame Trubisky. I would panic with the WRs, and not with Trubisky. I see no way Foles wins that job with them at 2-0.
Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow is gonna be really good. He is an unfinished product, but you gotta like what we have seen so far. his 61.9 completion percentage leaves plenty to be desired, but he leads the league in attempts through 2 weeks, and will be playing from behind enough to keep fantasy owners happy. A.J. Green has looked slightly out of sync with Burrow, but the target share is there, and once they sync up, Green becomes more valuable. Joe Mixon, on the other hand, makes me wanna panic. 3.3 YPC? He has 40 touches, but is getting nothing done on the ground. Again, the Bengals will be behind, which may not bode well for Mixon. Boyd came on strong week 2, so I am not panicking on the WRs just yet, but Mixon has me reaching for alcohol. Panic would be a worthy phrase for what I am doing on my two Mixon shares.
Cleveland Browns
When does the city of Cleveland as a whole panic about Baker’s performance? Week 2 he looked better, but there are panic stricken fantasy owners all over the globe fretting about the Browns. Nick Chubb looked the part week two, as did Kareem Hunt. But Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry have been less than impressive. To be fair, I am panicking on everyone outside the RBs. What is wrong with Cleveland?! It doesn’t look like it’s gonna be fixed quickly. I am only panicking on Odell at this moment.
Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott gives me nothing but happy fantasy thoughts. Amari Cooper has proven the consistent receiving threat. Ezekiel Elliot looks like the de facto RB1 now with injuries. No panic anywhere so far. But Michael Gallup has lacked volume. And while CeeDee Lamb has impressed, I wonder if he will ever get his featured game. There is no real panicking in Dallas. Unless you drafted Blake Jarwin. Sorry. But this team should continue to provide fantasy excellence.
Denver Broncos
Ahhh! The sky is falling, which sucks for a city a mile high up, because it will hit them first. It’s science. Drew Lock out, Courtland Sutton out for the year, Phillip Lindsay out, throw in Von and you’ve got enough for a band. Awful. Lock never had his full complement of weapons, but he wasn’t overly impressive in his one full game. A live look at John Elway will show you panic. And with good reason. Jerry Jeudy is gonna have to handle the load from whoever is throwing, is he ready? I bet so. Noah Fant vaults up the boards just because of the volume he will see. But I suspect Melvin Gordon gets some nice usage the next few weeks. Lindsay will be back soon though. Gordon scored last week, but that offense will not be open, and I am a bit panicked on the entire QB situation there. Call Peyton. Call Favre. Hell call Warner, do something Elway!
Detroit Lions
3:2 TD:INT ratio, 58.7 completion percentage, those numbers are not what I expected from Matthew Stafford. But he hasn’t had Kenny Golladay yet. Now is not the time to panic. D’Andre Swift will continue growing in this offense. T.J. Hockenson will continue catching everything and is someone who I see pointing up. Maybe it’s time to panic on Matt Patricia? Because if you sell Stafford now, he’s gonna make you pay for it. Same for Golladay. When he returns, this offense will ignite. Try not panicking in Detroit yet, at least for fantasy purposes.
Green Bay Packers
Wow! Aaron Rodgers, I mean, I knew he was gonna have a chip on his shoulder, but he has looked awesome. Davante Adams injury is concerning, but we saw what full health Adams looks like week 1. However, Marquez Valdes-Scantling has underwhelmed outside a couple plays, and while Allen Lazard looked better, he isn’t getting the volume. Aaron Jones is looking a lot like 2019 Aaron Jones. The only reason to panic is Jace Sternberger looks like a TE3 out there. He still has yet to record a catch in his career. Why? That makes me wanna panic. Maybe GB TE is not a spot I look anymore. But GB offensively as a whole, I am all about. No panic there.
Houston Texans
The offensive line is not great. Deshaun Watson is running for his life every play. His numbers are actually impressive considering his situation, and I expect him to get better as the season goes on. No panic there. But WR corps makes me dizzy. You cannot know who is gonna feast, if anyone. David Johnson looks solid but that line concerns me for him too. I might ease off the Texans a bit until the line demonstrates some level of consistency, but I am not panicking. I think the Texans figure it out. Watson is too good not to. And make up your damn mind on a TE already, O’Brien!
Indianapolis Colts
Philip Rivers currently sports a 77.5 completion percentage, to go along with 577 yards. Not too shabby, but the eye-test says otherwise. He has not looked very great. Jonathan Taylor showed what he can do week 2, so the run game seems to be in good hands, but the WRs concern me. T.Y. Hilton has not seemed to gel with Rivers. Michael Pittman has underwhelmed so far. I think with Rivers looking like he has, it might be time to panic on these WRs. Running seems to be Indy’s strength, and that doesn’t bode well for the WRs at the moment, because I am not sure Rivers has it anymore. Panic might be a decent thing at the moment, but only a bit of it. Indy does have a helluva line.
Jacksonville Jaguars
Gardner Minshew is a beast! 75.4 completion percentage? Yes please. 6:2 TD:INT ratio? Uh-huh. Minshew has impressed along with DJ Chark, who has snagged every target he has received. He needs more though, but I won’t panic. The Jags have been better than advertised so far. Keelan Cole looks to be a legitimate option, and Laviska Shenault looks like a weapon. Oddly, there is no panic in Jacksonville, mostly because nobody can believe what Minshew is doing. James Robinson looks pretty salty too, surprisingly. This might be an offense to get more exposure to now, as they should be in a lot of high scoring games.
Kansas City Chiefs
A 5:0 TD:INT ratio, along with 513 yards, and a 64.6 completion percentage would not be panic worthy for most QBs. But Patrick Mahomes must need more ketchup, because he seems less himself than what was expected. That being said, KC is 2-0, and Mahomes has shown those flashes that make you go holy crap. But Tyreek Hill has not had the expected production, and I must admit I feel slightly panicked. The offense looks like it has weapons galore. That might be a negative for every weapon involved by the time the season starts. Travis Kelce has produced, and Mahomes will get it going. Clyde Edwards-Helaire doesn’t look like an elite back to me. I would have sold high after that week 1 performance because I am not sure he blows up like that very often. He is just too small, and has real goal line issues.
Las Vegas Raiders
73.5% completion rate, check. No interceptions, and a 2-0 record. Who is Derek Carr in 2020 Alex? Carr has been excellent, thrived within the offense, and he has some real weapons to work with. Darren Waller is a beast, and so is Josh Jacobs. Patience with Henry Ruggs , if he can stay healthy he will continue improving. But the consistent threat may become Bryan Edwards. He is just getting his feet under him too. There is no reason to panic here considering outside Jacobs you didn’t invest an early pick here. The Raiders have been a pleasant surprise so far in 2020.
Los Angeles Chargers
It’s Justin Herbert time baby! Gosh, I was starting to panic on Austin Ekeler before Herbert arrived. Tyrod Taylor just had that offense looking bogged down and sloppy. Herbert looked excellent. I might start panicking with Keenan Allen. I called Mike Williams winding up as their primo WR in 2020, and I suspect I am correct. Hunter Henry should benefit from improved Herbert play, and this offense is looking up with the change at QB. How about Joshua Kelley? It looks like he will be the thunder to Ekeler’s lightning, forming a potent tandem.
Los Angeles Rams
I will admit, JaredGoff has looked a bit better than I expected. But I see the future, and I am not sure this is going to be a consistent offense all year. I would be panicking on all the backs, although Darrell Henderson has looked the best when you look at week 2. But I am not sure this run game does much, especially heading into week 3. Robert Woods can’t find the end zone again, which is concerning. However, a rush TD makes that hurt less, and he gets enough targets not to panic. Cooper Kupp has been ok, no panic needed yet, but it is troublesome considering what was expected. Tyler Higbee has been fantastic. I won’t lie though, I am a bit panicky that this offense struggles down the stretch. Despite the 2-0 record, I am not yet convinced, and think Buffalo spanks them. But again, no panic here outside the RB situation, which is an unknown.
Miami Dolphins
Panic would have been a Dolphin fan’s default setting after week 1, but week 2 was a much better showing. Week 3 that trend continues. Ryan Fitzpatrick did not start out great, but looked much better against Buffalo. DeVante Parker needs more looks and will get them, no need for panic, and Mike Gesicki panickers from week one must be kicking themselves. Do not panic here, this guy is a superstar. Howard and Breida owners better get their panic on hard though, because Myles Gaskin and his 5.4 yards per carry average has dominated the action and received 64% of the snaps up to this point. I see no reason he does not continue carrying the load, and am making moves to acquire him.
Minnesota Vikings
Panic! What the hell was that Kirk Cousins? No, I did not like that. Neither did Adam Thielen I assume. Really outside Dalvin Cook, who is not getting enough touches, this team has been quite disappointing up to this point. Thielen should rebound, and Cook is ok, but I would be panic-stricken about everyone else in this offense right about now.
New England Patriots
The panic will come when Cam Newton inevitably goes down. And while a huge performance by Julian Edelman and better than expected play from N’Keal Harry should make fantasy owners happy, there is not much else to like here. The run game has been bad outside Cam, who has become their RB1. He has thrown better than I expected, but running like that is not a recipe for sustained success, and Cam has a history. If you are a Cam owner, you should be panicking to reap value from him now before he is hurt and cannot give you any value whatsoever.
New Orleans Saints
Yikes. There is a lot to freak out about here actually. Michael Thomas being out is definitely a part of it, but Drew Brees has not looked great. a 64.7% completion rate is low for Brees, and he only has 3 TDs through 2 games. Emmanuel Sanders owners have been panicking for a bit now, for good reason. Alvin Kamara has looked excellent, and his end zone woes appear behind him. But Brees owners should be seriously concerned, Brees has just looked off. The return of MT might solve this, but he played week 1 and Brees still looked rough. MT owners, there is also reason to panic, because week 1 was not a good sign. However, the Saints are the Saints, so they get the benefit of the doubt from me for now.
New York Giants
Saquon Barkley, you ruined so many seasons and preseason ranks. The Giants themselves should be panicking. But Daniel Jones owners, take a breath. This guy is good. Darius Slayton owners, no need to panic, that guy is good too. Outside those two, and maybe a healthy Sterling Shepard, there is ample reason to be panicky in Giants country. However, fantasy owners, realize Danny Dimes is gonna have to throw even more now. This is good for fantasy. Slayton will be the beneficiary of this.
New York Jets
Panic. Just do it. I don’t need to go over anything else. Crowder looked like a safe play, but outside that, I am avoiding this team like the plague. There is nothing else to say. If you drafted many Jets, you should reassess your life, and your willingness to trust Adam Gase, after you panic. You really shouldn’t have done that.
Philadelphia Eagles
Carson Wentz panic time has arrived. He is turning the ball over a bunch, and the line looks like they would get abused by a high school team. Really, with the WR corps being devastated by injuries(again), you can feel safe using Dallas Goedert and Zach Ertz in the passing game, that’s it. Miles Sanders gave us no reason to panic in his first week, but the passing game outside the TEs is definitely panic worthy and I might not be starting anyone all year at this rate.
Pittsburgh Steelers
No panic here after James Conner overcame a rough week 1. The WRs are performing, including Chase Claypool who has been a revelation and a real threat to go deep every time. Ben Roethlisberger has looked healthy. My only fantasy concern, is the defense is going to be so good that the offense won’t have to score as much as you would want.
San Francisco 49ers
Yikes. I am not outright panicking yet, because George Kittle will be back, and Deebo Samuel has yet to play, but this offense looks gross. McKinnon is the guy this week, and Mostert has looked solid, but Jimmy Garoppolo still looks like, well Jimmy G. Nobody in the WR corps has impressed. If I owned Jimmy at all(I do not), I would be panicky. But the offense should get better with guys returning. So maybe don’t panic just yet, but its gonna be rough until those guys get healthy.
Seattle Seahawks
Panic? You talkin’ about panic? Not in Seattle. Russell Wilson is a man possessed. So is Chris Carson. Hell so are D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. If you are panicking about anyone on this team, you either don’t know what the word panic means, or you are confused as to how fantasy football works. This team is wicked offensively, and a well I want to dive into all year long.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
I wouldn’t say panic yet, it’s still early, but early results of the Tom Brady regime have been mixed. Carolina sucks so of course they beat them, but Brady has not had consistent play from the pass-catchers outside Mike Evans and Chris Godwin when healthy. Leonard Fournette is going to be the guy, and the Ronald Jones truthers who were fooled week 1, I told you so, go read week 1 Buy Low Sell High. Jones will still be involved, but this is Fournette’s backfield, he just has more talent. Brady’s 3:3 TD:INT ratio should correct with familiarity, I am not panicking. Except with Rob Gronkowski. He has not looked good, and I can’t be talked into believing he suddenly erupts.
Tennessee Titans
Derrick Henry hasn’t scored, but don’t panic. Ryan Tannehill has looked fantastic depsite missing A.J. Brown last week. Corey Davis has been a revelation, and I called Jonnu doing this early, he is just so athletic. But Henry is going to find the end zone in a big way this week, rewarding his owners wondering where those TDs went. No panic here outside AJB not being healthy, but hopefully that situation resolves soon. Tennessee could be salty this year when on all-cylinders.
Washington Football Team
Hey, I am sure we all panicked when Derrius Guice went down, and again when Peyton Barber scored twice in week 1, but I suspect the patient Antonio Gibson owners are about to be rewarded. Dwayne Haskins has been meh, but who was drafting him to be their QB1 anyways? No panic, it was expected. Terry McLaurin has been as advertised and is a superstar on most other teams. Really, as far as panic goes, what kind of expectations did you guys have for Washington FT? Don’t panic on Gibson, or McLaurin, as I suspect those two get theirs. Also, Logan Thomas is talented, remember that.
