Here’s my Week 5 QB streamer article. If you want a recap of the idea behind QB streamers, you can check out my first article here. Last week, my Week 4 QB streamer was Taylor Heinicke put up 27.9, which currently puts him as QB5 (before the Monday night game). He has been surprisingly good for fantasy this year. Let’s see who my QB streamer is this week.
Trey Lance
At 31 percent, this may be the last week Trey Lance will be rostered in under 50 percent of leagues. I’d imagine after waivers clear on Wednesday, that number will jump significantly. He just put up 20.38 fantasy points in one half, though it was against a lowly Seahawks defense.
Lance was projected to be a fantasy stud once he started and he didn’t disappoint in his first game. Because of his rushing upside, he’s got a solid floor and on that offence, he should be an efficient passer as well.
Lance has been one of the hottest rookie pickups in dynasty fantasy football, especially in Superflex formats. With that draft capital, mobility, and situation, he’s set for success. He was my number one ranked rookie pick (above Trevor Lawrence and Najee Harris) in Superflex leagues because we’ve seen how much the ability to run helps with fantasy football. That combined with the amount San Francisco paid to trade up to get him, and we can be confident he has got job security for a few years.
Wrap-Up
If you don’t have a solid QB (and maybe even if you do), I’d recommend picking up Trey Lance. I imagine he’ll be more than just a Week 5 QB streamer. I can definitely see him being a QB1 from here on out if he starts the rest of the season. As of right now, Jalen Hurts is the fantasy QB3. I could see Lance being even better Hurts with that offense.
