Welcome to the Week 9 Blitz Pickup, where we review the most interesting facts, figures and notes from every NFL game each week. Just like a running back hitting a crucial chip on a blitzing linebacker, we’re going to make sure nothing gets by, all so you can make the plays you need to reach fantasy football paydirt. It’s down, it’s dirty. It’s the Week 9 Blitz Pickup!

Week 9 Blitz Pickup: Thursday Night

Philadelphia was seeing red on Thursday night, but ultimately remained undefeated.

Eagles 29 at Texans 17

Jalen Hurts (QB5) has multiple touchdowns (running and/or passing) in all but two games this season… Miles Sanders has not seen a target in two games, but has scored a touchdown in three straight… A.J. Brown has the sixth-highest target share (30.6 percent) among wide receivers… DeVonta Smith is 19th in target share… Dallas Goedert (TE4) is fourth in target share among tight ends… Goedert has the second-highest catch percentage (80 percent) of any player with at least 50 targets, trailing only Austin Ekeler (87 percent)…

Davis Mills threw multiple interceptions for the third time this season. That happened only twice all last season… Despite not scoring a touchdown, Dameon Pierce (RB14) had over 10 fantasy points for the sixth straight game… Pierce had a career-high 139 rushing yards, however he did not see a target for the first time… Pierce continues to trail only Josh Jacobs in rush share… With Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins out, Chris Moore had his best fantasy score (14.5) since Week 5 of last season… Phillip Dorsett led the team in receiving yards and led the wideouts in snaps… Brevin Jordan again led the team in tight end snaps…

Week 9 Blitz Pickup: Sunday Early Games

The surprising Jets sacked the Bills and kept pace in the AFC East.

Bills 17 at Jets 20

Josh Allen (QB1) did not throw a touchdown pass for the first time this season… Allen had his best rushing game of the season, however, with nine carries for 86 yards and a pair of scores… Devin Singletary‘s only touchdown this year came during Week 3… Gabriel Davis was on the field for all but three snaps, but caught only two passes. Davis has caught more than three passes only once this season (four, Week 1)… Stefon Diggs (WR3) is averaging 14.3 yards per reception, his highest as a Bill… Dawson Knox has only two touchdowns on the season, both on redzone targets. He has seen just four redzone targets on the year…

Zach Wilson had his most efficient passing game of the year. Wilson completed 72 percent of his passes. For the first time this year, he threw a touchdown without throwing an interception in the game… Wilson’s passer rating of 101.08 was his first career game with a rating over 100… James Robinson led the team in carries for the first time since the Jaguars traded him… Robinson and Michael Carter both scored… Denzel Mims was second on the team with 50 snaps at wide receiver, his highest usage of the season… Garrett Wilson led the team in receiving but has not scored since Week 2… The Jets are on the bye in Week 10…

Dolphins 35 at Bears 32

Tua Tagovailoa threw for 300+ yards and three touchdowns without an interception for the second week in a row… In his first game after joining the team at the trade deadline, Jeff Wilson Jr. was the lead running back. Wilson led Raheem Mostert in snaps, carries, and targets. Mostert, however, scored a touchdown in the redzone… Tyreek Hill is WR1 despite only three touchdowns on the season… Only Gabe Davis (WR37) is the only wideout in the top 50 of fantasy scoring with a higher yards per reception than Jaylen Waddle (WR5)…

Justin Fields set an NFL record for rushing yards by a quarterback with 178… Over his last four games, Fields has 10 total touchdowns and 408 yards rushing… Darnell Mooney scored his first touchdown and had his best fantasy performance since Week 18 of last season… Cole Kmet had his first career two-score game. He also has scored in consecutive games for the first time…

Packers 9 at Lions 15

Aaron Rodgers threw three redzone interceptions after previously never throwing two in the same game… Rodgers’s 40 rushing yards were his most since 2019… AJ Dillon has cleared 50 yards three times this season. He has not scored since Week 1… Aaron Jones, meanwhile, is RB10 overall and seventh in running back targets… Jones ranks in the top ten backs in rushing and receiving yards in 2022… Allen Lazard scored for the fifth time in seven games… Lazard has scored at least 11.5 fantasy points every week but Week 1… Romeo Doubs suffered a high ankle sprain and is currently expected to miss at least four games… Christian Watson was placed in concussion protocol, but did not suffer an actual concussion per the team… Josiah Deguara led the team in receptions (five). Deguara has played over 41 percent of snaps over the last two weeks…

Jared Goff is tied for seventh in touchdown passes… D’Andre Swift played just 10 snaps but had six opportunities in that time… Jamaal Williams saw a season-high 24 rush attempts… Amon-Ra St. Brown saw his highest target share of the season and led the team… In the first game after the T.J. Hockenson trade, Brock Wright took the overwhelming majority of snaps for Detroit. James Mitchell saw more targets, however… Meanwhile, Shane Zylstra scored his first career touchdown…

Chargers 20 at Falcons 17

After averaging just under 40 pass attempts per game in his first two seasons, Justin Herbert is averaging almost 44 attempts per game this season… Herbert has the lowest passer rating (90.57) in his three years as starter… Austin Ekeler (RB1) scored touchdowns rushing and receiving for the fourth time in his last five games… Both Mike Williams and Keenan Allen missed the game… Joshua Palmer had his best career fantasy score (18.6) in his first career 100-yard game… DeAndre Carter cleared 10 fantasy points for the second time this year… Williams and Allen are likely to miss Week 10… Gerald Everett is sixth in tight end targets in the league…

Marcus Mariota did not have a passing or rushing touchdown for only the second time this season… Cordarrelle Patterson returned to the lead role and scored two touchdowns in his return from injury… Entering Week 10, Drake London had not scored a touchdown or caught more than four passes since Week 2… London is 11th in wide receiver target share… Kyle Pitts is third in target share among tight ends. His catch percentage of 46.3 is the lowest of any tight end in the top 75 of fantasy scoring…

Panthers 21 at Bengals 42

Baker Mayfield replaced a struggling P.J. Walker at halftime and had his best game as a Panther… Regardless, interim coach Steve Wilks announced Walker as the Week 10 starter… D’Onta Foreman was shut down for the first time since the McCaffrey trade… Raheem Blackshear saw the first substantial usage of his career and scored his first touchdown… Terrace Marshall Jr. scored his first career touchdown and looks to be the biggest beneficiary of the Robbie Anderson trade… Tommy Tremble had his second touchdown in three weeks on just nine total targets…

Joe Burrow (QB3) has at least one touchdown pass in every game this season… Burrow scored his fourth rushing touchdown in the last five games, a new career-high in a season… Joe Mixon scored a Bengals’ franchise record five touchdowns. It was his most efficient game of the season, gaining 7 yards per carry… Mixon’s 55.1 points was the 12th-highest running back score since 1950… Tyler Boyd has a touchdown in two of three games since Ja’Marr Chase‘s injury… Boyd has 20 targets in that span; Tee Higgins has 21… Hayden Hurst is TE10 in targets this season. He’s caught all nine of his targets in the past two games… The Bengals are on the bye in Week 10…

Colts 3 at Patriots 26

In two games as starter, Sam Ehlinger has completed 61.5 percent of passes for just 304 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception… Deon Jackson operated as the lead back again with Jonathan Taylor out, but suffered a knee injury and will miss Week 10… Taylor will play in Week 10… Michael Pittman has not scored since Week 1… Once again, tight end snaps and targets were split among Kylen Granson, Mo Alie-Cox, and Jelani Woods… The Colts fired head coach Frank Reich and hired Jeff Saturday in the interim…

Mac Jones (QB30) has not thrown more than one touchdown in a game yet this season… Rhamondre Stevenson (RB8) ranks among the top nine running backs in both carries and targets… Jakobi Meyers has already set a career high for touchdowns in a season (three)… Hunter Henry continues to see slightly more snaps and usage than Jonnu Smith, but neither has enough volume to rank in the top 25 of fantasy tight ends… Nick Folk is second in field goal attempts this season… The Patriots are on the bye in Week 10…

Vikings 20 at Commanders 17

Kirk Cousins has at least 30 pass attempts and a touchdown in every game this season… Cousins (QB11) has thrown multiple touchdowns in five of eight games… Dalvin Cook scored his first receiving touchdown since Week 8 of 2020… Justin Jefferson is second in receiving yards in the league and seventh in target share… Although he ranks as just WR33, Adam Thielen is ranks seventh in snap percentage among wide receivers… T.J. Hockenson (TE5) caught all nine of his targets in his first game with the Vikings…

Taylor Heinicke has six total touchdowns in three games as the Commanders’ starter this season… Antonio Gibson again led the Commanders’ backs in snaps and targets, and had 11 rushes to Brian Robinson‘s 13… Curtis Samuel has double-digit fantasy points in all but two games this season and leads Washington wideouts in targets and scoring… Terry McLaurin is tenth in yardage among wideouts…

Raiders 20 at Jaguars 27

Derek Carr‘s completion percentage (62.3) is his lowest since 2015, his second year in the league… After scoring in three straight games, Josh Jacobs has not scored in his last two contests… Davante Adams (WR6) leads the league in touchdown receptions by a wideout, but has the lowest catch percentage of any top-20 fantasy receivers… Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller were both placed on IR…

In spite of his inconsistency, Trevor Lawrence is QB10 overall, thanks in part to a career-high three rushing scores… Travis Etienne has four touchdowns in the last three games, roughly coinciding with the end of James Robinson’s Jaguars tenure… Christian Kirk (WR10) ranks 21st among wide receivers in points per game… The Jaguars have already matched last season’s win total…

Rams 13 at Buccaneers 16

Matthew Stafford has thrown multiple touchdowns just once this season… Last season, Stafford had just four games in which he threw a single touchdown… Darrell Henderson saw the most snaps and opportunities in the backfield, but has scored fewer than 10 fantasy points in five of the last six games… Despite seeing the second-most snaps among Rams running backs in the game, Malcolm Brown was cut from the roster after the game… Van Jefferson saw five targets in his second game back from injury, but still has not caught a pass… Cooper Kupp has the highest catch percentage of any top-50 fantasy wide receiver… Tyler Higbee now has fewer than four fantasy points in three straight games and has yet to score this year…

Tom Brady surpassed 100,000 passing yards (regular and post-season) and led his 55th career game-winning drive… Brady is now QB12 on the season overall, yet just 19th in points per game… Leonard Fournette averaged just 2.1 yards per carry… Ke’Shawn Vaughn played just three snaps but had two rushes and a target… Chris Godwin has the second-most receiving yards and receptions of any wideout without a touchdown this season… Cade Otton was TE4 on the week after scoring his first career touchdown… Otton is averaging over five targets per game in the last three weeks…

Seahawks 31 at Cardinals 21

Geno Smith had his seventh game this season with multiple touchdown passes. He had seven such games in his career prior to this season… Kenneth Walker has seven touchdowns in the past five games and is averaging over 5.3 yards per carry in that stretch… Both Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf scored a touchdown in the same game for the second week in a row and the third time this season… Noah Fant led Will Dissly by one snap and had his best game as a Seahawk…

Kyler Murray (QB6) is second among quarterbacks in pass attempts and seventh in rush attempts… James Conner took 71.4 percent of offensive snaps at running back and led the backfield in opportunities in his return from injury… DeAndre Hopkins saw just five targets but scored a touchdown for the second game in a row… Zach Ertz (TE3) is second in targets among tight ends and also has scored in two straight…

Week 9 Blitz Pickup: Sunday Night

The Chiefs eventually brought the Titans back down to earth in a competitive game.

Titans 17 at Chiefs 20

In two games as a starter, Malik Willis has completed just 11 of 26 passes for 135 yards with no scores and an interception… Willis has attempted 13 rushes in those two games… Derrick Henry cleared 100 yards rushing for the fifth straight game and scored two touchdowns for the third time in four contests… No Tennessee wide receiver caught a pass on just five total targets… Chigoziem Okonkwo had a 48 yard catch-and-run on the Titans’ first play, but was subsequently shut out for the remainder of the game…

Patrick Mahomes (QB2) leads the league in passing yards and passing touchdowns… Jerick McKinnon took more snaps than the rest of the Chiefs’ running backs combined… McKinnon led the backs in targets with eight. Isiah Pacheco led the committee in rush attempts, but had just five yards to match Clyde Edwards-HelaireJuJu Smith-Schuster had a season-high 10 catches on 12 targets… Kadarius Toney had two catches in his Chiefs debut… Travis Kelce (TE1) leads all tight ends in virtually every receiving category and would rank as WR5…

Week 9 Blitz Pickup: Monday Night

Lamar and the Ravens marched all over the Saints on Monday Night Football.

Ravens 27 at Saints 13

Lamar Jackson (QB4) leads all quarterbacks in rush yardage and is fourth in touchdown passes… Kenyan Drake operated as the lead back and had his best fantasy day since 2020… Drake was RB4 overall on the day… Demarcus Robinson led the wideouts in targets, but no receiver had more than two catches… Isaiah Likely caught a touchdown for the second consecutive game playing in place of Mark Andrews… The Ravens are on the bye in Week 10…

Andy Dalton now has started twice as many games as Jameis Winston this season, but the two are tied with five interceptions… After his best fantasy game of the year, Alvin Kamara saw his fewest opportunities of the season… Chris Olave is tenth in targets per snap among wide receivers… Juwan Johnson has three touchdowns in the last three games… Taysom Hill had his lowest fantasy output since Week 1 of last season, attempting just one rush for six yards…
