Stefon Diggs’ trade value in dynasty has been a topic of debate lately after the star receiver shined in his first season in Buffalo. Entering his seventh year in the league at 27-years-old, is Stefon Diggs a player you should target in your dynasty league?
Diggs is in his Prime. You Should Want him.
Diggs played in all 16 games for the first time in his career last season. He is likely in the midst of his prime and has Josh “Golden Arm” Allen throwing to him. What’s not to like about Diggs after he caught 127 balls for 1535 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season? What’s not to like about his situation in Buffalo, where he’ll serve as Josh Allen’s number one receiver until at least 2024? I say go for Diggs in your dynasty league if your team is already positioned to win it all, but be prepared to have to give up a good amount to get him.
So who Should you Give up for Diggs?
I’d be more than willing to commit to a two-for-one deal focused on Diggs in any of my dynasty leagues. Owners of young players who had breakout campaigns in 2020 due to favorable circumstances should look to sell high on those players for Diggs.
Brandon Aiyuk is someone who comes to mind when I think about players I could potentially offer in a package for Diggs. While Aiyuk had a great season in San Fran last year, the laundry list of injuries the 49ers had to deal with likely contributed to his high target share in Kyle Shanahan’s potent offense. That high target share turned into fantasy production, but regression is expected for the young receiver out of Arizona State this coming season with the 49ers’ offense back at full strength. Pairing Aiyuk with a more brand-name quality receiver like Allen Robinson might just be enough to get Diggs on your roster and off someone else’s. The allure of Aiyuk’s young age could attract plenty of potential buyers in your league. Be ready.
Ask Around About A.J. Brown.
I understand A.J. Brown is already a bona-fide fantasy stud at 23-years-old, but he’s another guy I’d be willing to give up in a deal for Diggs. Only, in that case, you should be the one getting two players in exchange for Brown as opposed to giving up two players to get Diggs. If whoever owns Diggs in your league wants to trade him straight up for Brown, that’s also an offer that I would consider. But see if you can get Diggs and another promising player for Brown first. You never know!
Brown has incredibly high upside at his young age, but I’m expecting some regression from Ryan Tannehill this season as the Titans continue to lean heavily on Derrick Henry for offensive production. That means I’m expecting regression from Brown, too.
Tannehill is no spring chicken, either. At 32-years-old, the veteran quarterback may or may not be the long-term option in Tennessee. That means Brown’s stats could fall off should Tannehill begin to seriously regress in the coming years. If Tannehill continues to produce at or near the level he did last season for several years to come, Brown will be one of the best assets in all of dynasty. However, if Tannehill falls off and Tennessee has to go searching for a viable QB, Brown’s fantasy stock could plummet quickly. Sell high on Brown while you can if you feel your team is close to being positioned to win the championship. Try to use him as an asset to acquire Diggs and another good player in your dynasty league.
Stefon Diggs’ Trade Value Is High. But He’s Worth it.
I understand it’s going to take a lot to get Diggs in your dynasty league. He has one of the highest floors of any receiver in fantasy due to his commanding target share in the high-powered Bills’ offense. Josh Allen is obsessed with throwing to the guy. And if you’ve watched Josh Allen throw a pigskin recently, you want whoever he’s slinging the rock to most frequently on your dynasty roster for years to come. Diggs is worth his lofty price tag. Simple as that.
Once the lethal tandem torches NFL defenses on a consistent basis for the second season in a row, it’s going to be even harder to get Diggs from whoever in your league owns him now.
So go trade for Stefon Diggs in your dynasty league if whoever has him currently is willing to give him up. He could easily be a player that puts your team over the top. The duo of Diggs and Golden Arm Josh gives opposing defenses nightmares, and both are younger players who should be productive together for a good while. Now is the time to get Stefon Diggs if your dynasty team is in win-now mode. Don’t let the opportunity go to waste.
