Waiver Wire: Week 11

The waiver wire is here for Week 11, and we at Belly Up are here to give you our top guys to acquire. This is the part of the season where these articles start to reach a bit. This is because most waiver wires are pretty dry and finding a productive player gets hard every week. That being said I hope this list of players helps you guys decide who to pick up this week.

Quarterback

Mac Jones, New England Patriots (ESPN~14%, Yahoo~28%)

The rookie QB is having a good season in 2021 for a QB2 in Superflex leagues. Coming off last week’s 3 TD performance against a good Browns’ defense should have fantasy managers excited for his upcoming stretch of games. The Pats play the Falcons on Thursday and will play the Titans, Bills (2x), Colts, Jaguars, and Dolphins. That schedule minus the Bills games should lend itself to some good Jones games. Look for Jones on your waiver wire, he’s one of the only QBs left because he’s lacked production on a consistent basis. This is an under-the-radar add that could pay dividends in long run.

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers (ESPN~12.6%, Yahoo~16%)

Cam Newton is back in the NFL, and he made an impact scoring two touchdowns. If you’re out there looking for a QB2 who can score QB1 numbers then look no further than Newton. He’s already poaching rushing TDs, and let’s not forget that Newton had 20 TDs (8 passing, 12 rushing ) last year. He’s still got a struggling arm, but it’s worked out for Jalen Hurts this season. Carolina has the offense to push the ball downfield and set up opportunities for Newton to score.

Running Back

Matt Breida, Buffalo Bills (ESPN~0.2%, Yahoo~0%)

Breida came alive this week, catching a 15-yard touchdown and rushing for another. Is this a sign of things to come? Doubtful, but adding in someone into that Bills disaster of a backfield may actually give us a little clarity. Breida was definitely the best running back out there for Buffalo, but there is no certainty that he’ll have a workload going forward. At this point finding a good RB in Week 11 is near impossible without injury, but Breida does offer an option.

Godwin Igwebuike, Detroit Lions (ESPN~0%, Yahoo~0%)

This is more of a recommendation on any of the running backs next to D’Andre Swift. Igwebuike has 5 carries for 74 yards and a TD in the two games he’s played in this year. Jermar Jefferson has 5 carries for 47 yards and 2 TDs in that same two-game span. So the one trend you can see with the Lions’ offense is that they will run the ball no matter what. Also, this offense is one of the worst, if not the worst in the league this season. So there will be lots of “garbage time” to rack up points. Running back is a hard position to find this deep into the season, so when you can get someone who is getting utilized you take a chance a go grab him.

Wide Receivers

Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots (ESPN~3.1%, Yahoo~7%)

Bourne continues to have an under-the-radar year this season. As of right now he is the WR25 on FantasyPros and is coming off his first 20 point game in fantasy. Bourne has been consistently getting at least 4 targets/game and has had a 13% target share on the season, not bad for the 2nd/3rd receiver on the team. While the Patriots aren’t the most ambitious passing team in the league, Bourne eats when he’s given the opportunities, averaging 15.8 yards per reception. Bourne has become a safety net for Mac Jones and should be considered some to add to your team for a flex spot start.

Bryan Edwards, Las Vegas Raiders (ESPN~15.2%, Yahoo~18%)

Edwards has consistently gotten four targets a week since Week 6. The production hasn’t been there in every game, but this past week we got to see how good Edwards could be against the Chiefs in Week 10. Edwards received 4 targets and caught 3 receptions for 88 yards, including a 37 yard TD. Edwards has shown potential this year and should be getting plenty of opportunities for the remainder of the season.

Tight Ends

Adam Trautman, New Orleans Saints (ESPN~2.7%, Yahoo~5%)

When you’re looking for a player on the waiver wire, one of the things you’re looking for is volume. The Saints have started to use their tight end more each game, one thing that’s been consistent since Week 8 is Trautman is getting 6 targets/game. The one thing missing from Trautman’s stat line is the touchdowns, and I think they are coming. If you look at his past two games he’s had 13 targets and 4 of them were in the red zone. Take a look at Trautman if you’re looking for a streamable TE who can get you 5-10 fantasy points in PPR leagues.

Gerald Everett, Seattle Seahawks (ESPN~3.4%, Yahoo~20%)

Everett may have been the only player that benefitted fantasy-wise from the Packers’ blowout of the Seahawks. The Seahawks’ tight end posted the best numbers of his season, with 8 catches for 63 yards. Most of his production was because DK Metcalf went out early, but he’s going to have a role in this offense going forward. Everett was brought in this past offseason to help the offense in the red zone. Russell Wilson should be better in the coming weeks, and I expect Everett will get a bigger workload in the coming weeks.

Conclusion

I hope you guys enjoy this week’s version of the waiver wire. At this point in the season, this is a deep dive piece. We’re all looking for a player that can put us over just in time for the playoff push and hopefully this article helps. Have a good week guys and good luck with your Week 11 matchups.
