It is hard to believe that only two weeks remain before the start of the hockey fantasy playoffs. Maybe you are fighting to simply make the playoffs or pushing for the top spot. Either way, this fantasy hockey waiver-wire analysis will help show you the way!
Forwards
Kevin Hayes, Philadelphia Flyers, 45% owned
Hayes has scored goals in two of his last three games and added an assist. The Flyers are three points behind the Pittsburgh Penguins for 2nd in the Metropolitan Division. They will be pushing hard down the stretch and Hayes will get all of the ice time he can handle. He is in a great spot to help your fantasy team.
Ondrej Palat, TB Lightning, 42.8% owned
Palat has scored a goal and collected two assists in his last three games. He is pushing for 50 points before the end of the season, which would be the fourth time in his eight seasons. Tampa Bay has the 2nd best record in the NHL, five points behind Boston. If you need help at the forward position, Palat is in a position to do just that.
Corey Perry, Dallas Stars, 33.2% owned
Perry has a goal and two assists in his last three games. Dallas has lacked scoring punch all season and Perry looks like the one to provide it. The Stars are fighting for the division and conference titles with the Blues and will need every point they can get. Perry could give a huge boost to your fantasy team.
Jordan Eberle, New York Islanders, 29.9% owned
Eberle is coming off a huge game with three goals against Detroit. He also has fantasy points in his last three games. That kind of scoring punch can’t be ignored and Eberle might just be the player that makes the difference for your team.
Defensemen
Ryan Graves, Colorado Avalanche, 38.8% owned
Graves is locked in at the top of the Avalanche defense and will play a pivotal role down the stretch. He scored a goal in his last game against the Kings and his solid numbers would look great on your fantasy team.
Damon Severson, New Jersey Devils, 38.2% owned
Severson put up a goal and an assist in his last game against the Capitols. He has been solid all season and has three goals and 11 points in his last 13 games. Look for the Devils’ D-man to continue playing solid hockey.
Travis Sanheim, Philadelphia Flyers, 22.8% owned
Sanheim is one goal shy of establishing a career-high and is coming off a stretch of assists in three straight games. He looks to continue that strong play as one of the anchors of the Flyers’ defense.
Ben Chiarot, Montreal Canadians, 22.2% owned
Chiarot scored two goals and laid out four hits in a recent game against Washington. He has made a habit of filling the stat sheet for the Canadians this season. He has already matched his career-high in points and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
Goalies
To be honest, goalies are the least valuable position in fantasy hockey. It shouldn’t be that way as goalies can take an NHL team far in the real world. See the L.A. Kings, who rode Jonathan Quick to two Stanley Cup championships for more details. But this isn’t real life, this is fantasy. Goalies don’t play every game and when they do, they have to win to receive any points. But if you decide you need one, here are two goalies to take a look at:
Jacob Markstrom, Vancouver Canucks, 46.1% owned
Pavel Francouz, Colorado Avalanche, 42.1% owned
The hockey fantasy playoffs will be fun and exciting. First, you have to get there. This fantasy hockey waiver-wire analysis can help show you the way!
