Welcome to the Belly Up Bowl Week 12 Update! For the third consecutive season, Belly Up Fantasy Sports is proud to host the Belly Up Bowl fantasy tournament to raise money for charity. And for the second year in a row, we’re partnering with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. This year, 72 teams across six leagues are vying for the trophy, a bit of prize money, and the right to call themselves the 2022 Belly Up Bowl champion. Each week from now until the championship game, we’ll update you on who’s hot and who’s not in each league, including notes on league standings and the top five overall ranking. Remember, this is a “Best Ball” format, and overall scoring is just as important as win-loss record.
Each Belly Up Bowl league is named after a real Alex’s Lemonade Stand Childhood Cancer Hero. We’ve linked to each of their stories in their league’s review, so we can keep in perspective why we’re all here. A reminder that in addition to the money we’re donating raised from players’ league entry fees, you can always donate directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. You can also check out the many other ways to help, either by utilizing one of the additional methods of giving, or by getting involved directly.
We’re three quarters of the way through the season, and there’s still time for teams to make their move in the standings. Who will have luck on their side down the stretch? It’s anyone’s guess. Here’s where things stand in the Belly Up Bowl Week 12 update.
Scoring Format
Belly Up Bowl Week 12 Update: League Amara
After 12 weeks, the teams at the top of League Amara have started to separate themselves. Despite being only the third highest-scoring Amara team, Team HighLowSports has used a three-game winning streak to remain atop the standings. Their 10-2 record is tied for the second-best across all Belly Up Bowl leagues. Second place Team PapaDragon2005 is coincidentally the second highest-scoring team in the entire tournament. Outside of the top four, however, things are tight. Just two games and less than 100 points separate Team CommishCooper from Team SttChaseFFB.
Underlining the nature of the league’s parity are two interesting quirks. Team ripper80 (5-7) is the only sub-.500 team to rank in the top half of a league. And SttChaseFFB (4-8) has the best record and most points of any last place team. Team CommishCooper is currently on a four game win streak. On the other hand, Team tjsumpter55 find themselves mired in a six game losing streak.
High Riser: Team KornerBoothJared (+3)
Fast Fallers: Team ripper80, Team 4WhomJBellTolls, Team GREGGELS17, Team tjsumpter55, Team SttChaseFFB (-1)
High Score of the Week: KornerBoothJared (223.06)
Belly Up Bowl Week 12 Update: League Heather
While the same teams find themselves in the top six of League Heather, a couple of interesting weeks have shuffled the standings among them. While Team RyanMinerFFB remains in first, Team 18n1CallMeGreat and The CHAMP is here! have each used back-to-back wins to vault into second and third place, respectively. Further, Team 18n1CallMeGreat have leapfrogged several teams to take the top scoring spot in League Heather and move into the top-five overall scorers. Team ADion802 and Team epurdue21, meanwhile, have each lost two straight and have fallen to fifth and sixth, respectively. Despite their status as the league’s second-highest scoring team, Blue Chase Stuffed Olaves continues to tread water in fourth place.
Elsewhere in the league, lowest-scoring Heather team overall @ShanePHALLAM found themselves with the highest league game score this week. Last place Belly Up Adam continue to suffer. After an opening week win with the league’s highest score, Belly Up Adam has lost 11 straight. Their 1-11 record is currently the worst in the 2022 Belly Up Bowl. To be fair, no team has had more points scored against them in the Bowl than Belly Up Adam (2,131.04). League Heather has the distinction of being the highest-scoring league in the competition.
High Riser: The CHAMP is here! (+2)
Fast Faller: Team Loafinit (-2)
High Score of the Week: @ShanePHALLAM (198.00)
Belly Up Bowl Week 12 Update: League Landon
Team venomsoldier01 have been able to maintain their League Landon lead in scoring, but two straight losses have dropped them from the top spot to third place. Coming up to meet them with an identical 7-5 record, Team drewdelaware is on a six game win streak and are now third in points scored. Team sportsfansc has won two straight- including this week’s league-high score- to take the league lead in the standings. But their 8-4 record is the low mark among the six Belly Up Bowl league leaders. Last place Saint Bonifas has the best record for a last place team at 4-8. With a point spread of just 293.32 points between the top- and bottom-scoring teams, League Landon is undoubtedly the most internally competitive league in the Bowl. Appropriately, Team GenesisFantasyCards has the most points of any league’s lowest scorer.
High Riser: Team Rindo (+3)
Fast Fallers: Team venomsoldier01, Team GenesisFantasyCards (-2)
High Score of the Week: Team sportsfansc (198.00)
Belly Up Bowl Week 12 Update: League Leevi
Team BuckeyeFan91 still reigns supreme as the highest-scoring team in not just League Leevi, but in the entire Belly Up Bowl. A rare hiccup two weeks ago has cost them the top record in the Bowl, but not in League Leevi. At 10-2, Team BuckeyeFan91 still hold a one game lead over UrbanKickedHim. UrbanKickedHim is one of only eight teams with a record of 9-3 or better across the six Belly Up Bowl Leagues. Not to be forgotten, Team CaptainLou65 is hanging tough in third place with a record of 8-4 and sits just 7.04 points behind UrbanKickedHim.
League Leevi has more power concentrated at the top of the league record-wise than any other league. The top six teams in Leevi have a combined record of 46-26, the best of any league’s top half. Last place Team KANGASMAN91 has the tournament’s second-worst record at 2-10 and is currently on a six-game slide. One fun note: Team cjoneswho is the lowest scoring team in League Leevi, but was the week’s high-scorer with 212.60 points. That represented the second-biggest point total in the tournament in Week 12.
High Risers: Team PluckyBeans, Team BellyUpMike, Team SpaceMonkeysInc (+1)
Fast Faller: Monkey Fighting Snakes (-2)
High Score of the Week: Team cjoneswho (212.60)
Belly Up Bowl Week 12 Update: League Mary
Scoring is more highly correlated with league standings in League Mary than in any other in this year’s Belly Up Bowl. The top four teams in scoring order are also the top four teams in the standings. Conversely, the bottom two teams in scoring occupy the last two spots in the standings. @EmPoweredFF continues to sit atop the league with a 9-3 record. Their point total, however, falls outside the top 10 tournament-wide and is the lowest of any league scoring leader. Team sugarfreemocha is tied for the league’s best record and sits less than 33 points behind @EmPoweredFF. The two teams enjoy a two-game cushion over Team thebeav1228 and the rest of League Mary.
Three of the Bowl’s nine lowest-scoring teams come from League Mary, including two of the bottom three. KZfromPressBox, League Mary’s lowest-scoring team, are one of just two teams in the Belly Up Bowl with fewer than 1,700 points and have lost six straight. Accordingly, League Mary is the lowest-scoring of the six Belly Up Bowl leagues. In an appropriate turn of events, Team AndrewLeduc-BellyUpSports was League Mary’s high scorer this week with 195.46 points, the lowest top score of any of our six leagues.
High Risers: @EmPoweredFF, Team thebeav1228, Team BellyUpKev, Team GoingFor2DotCom, Team AndrewLeduc-BellyUpSports, Team blainebellyupsports (+1)
Fast Fallers: Team FFReserve, Purple Pride (-2)
High Score of the Week: Team AndrewLeduc-BellyUpSports (195.46)
Belly Up Bowl Week 12 Update: League Preslie
Continuing their theme of extremes, League Preslie’s teams are all over the map in terms of performance. League leader Team thorhalla has a case as the best overall team in the tournament, with a Bowl-best 11-1 record and the third-highest point total of any team across leagues. Second place Team rusj75 is only 11 points behind Team thorhalla, but has a 7-5 record. That’s good for the largest gap in record and smallest gap in scoring between any two league leaders in either category. Meanwhile, General Mills is the lowest-scoring Bowl team above .500. Team jpep20 is the highest-scoring Bowl team with a losing record. And Team injuredlistpod is the highest-scoring .500 team at 6-6 with 2,127.06 points, good for tenth place overall.
There are some current extreme streaks in League Preslie as well. Team thorhalla, team rusj75, and Team Flawlesss have won five, six, and four games in a row, respectively. Meanwhile, Team crewser128 and Team shawn8386 have each lost four straight. Team Flawlesss capped off their climb up the standings with the week’s top score in League Preslie. Like League Mary, the top two scoring teams in Preslie also sit in first and second in the standings, while the lowest-scoring team sits last. That team, Team ShaneSays, is the lowest overall scorer, and the only Belly Up Bowl team below 1,600 points.
High Riser: Team CommishCasey (+3)
Fast Fallers: General Mills, Team injuredlistpod (-3)
High Score of the Week: Team Flawlesss (196.04)
Overall Top Five Scorers
1.) 2288.58 Team BuckeyeFan91 (League Leevi)
2.) 2249.52 Team PapaDragon2005 (League Amara)
3.) 2174.40 Team thorhalla (League Preslie)
4.) 2163.40 Team rusj75 (League Preslie)
