Ceilings and Floors: Green Bay Packers

This is the 23rd of 32 Ceilings and Floors, covering each NFL team’s QBs, RBs, WRs, and TEs. We continue with the NFC North and The Green Bay Packers. In case you missed it, here is the breakdown for the Detroit Lions. (Depth Charts courtesy of footballguys.com)

Ceilings and Floors: Quarterback

QB1: Aaron Rodgers

CEILING: Rodgers comes out with a vengeance after Green Bay drafts Love, throwing 44 TDs along with 5,000 yards receiving, winning MVP as he turns 37 years old.

FLOOR: Rodgers pouts and trade rumors begin. The WRs are awful again, and Rodgers only has 24 TDs along with 3,800 yards.

PREDICTION: Rodgers is still a safe bet in fantasy, and I expect a strong year. He throws 35 TDs and 4,300 yards. He is still Aaron Rodgers.

QB2: Jordan Love

CEILING: He doesn’t see the field without Rodgers missing time. If Rodgers goes down before the season begins, I see 21 TDs and 3,300 yards.

FLOOR: He never sniffs the field and is allowed to mature like Rodgers did.

PREDICTION: Love has future potential, but Rodgers is still King Cheesehead, and Love doesn’t threaten that in 2020.

QB3: Tim Boyle, QB4: Jalen Morton

CEILING: Quality practice reps on the scout team.

FLOOR: They name the Men’s and Women’s bathrooms after them.

PREDICTION: “Grab me a beer, I gotta go use the Boyle.” “Oh, I just used the Morton, they upgraded them this season!” I predict naming a bathroom after someone is mean.

Ceilings and Floors: Running Back

Ceilings and Floors
RB1: Aaron Jones

CEILING: 19 TDs isn’t happening again. but 15 total TDs and 1,500 yards is attainable.

FLOOR: Jones shares too many touches, and is limited to 8 total TDs and 800 total yards. Or he is suspended again.

PREDICTION: Jones exploded in 2019, and he should be elite going into 2020. 10 total TDs, 1,200 total yards.

RB2: Jamaal Williams

CEILING: Jones misses the season, Williams locks down RB1, and scores 9 total TDs along with 1,100 total yards.

FLOOR: Williams is passed up on the depth chart, and scores 2 TDs along with 400 total yards.

PREDICTION: Williams is not bad, but Dillon’s arrival kills his value. I see 3 TDs and 400 total yards.

RB3: A.J. Dillon

CEILING: Dillon manages to beat out Williams for RB2, and scores 7 TDs along with 900 total yards.

FLOOR: Dillon is beaten out by the other two backs, and does not get many touches. 1 TD, 250 yards.

PREDICTION: Dillon is talented, and deserves touches. He should move up to RB2 at some point, and might make an interesting play late in the year. 4 TDs, 600 total yards.

RB4: Dexter Williams, RB5: Tyler Ervin, RB6: Patrick Taylor Jr.

CEILING: One TD, on special teams.

FLOOR: Zero TDs in any format.

PREDICTION: There is so much talent above them I actually feel really bad for them. They will eat a lot of cheese this year.

Ceilings and Floors: Wide Receiver

Ceilings and Floors
WR1: Davante Adams

CEILING: 14 TDs, 1,500 yards, and a reminder to the league that Davante Adams is a monster.

FLOOR: 5 TDs, 900 yards. This wont happen without an injury.

PREDICTION: Adams is a beast. I see 11 TDs and 1,200 yards.

WR2: Devin Funchess

CEILING: Funchess becomes a major red zone threat. 8 TDs, 700 yards.

FLOOR: Funchess struggles in a new offense and under-performs again. 2 TDs, 400 yards.

PREDICTION: Funchess is gonna get looks in the red zone, and I like 5 TDs along with 600 yards.

WR3: Allen Lazard

CEILING: 5 TDs, 600 yards, and a WR3 that is functional.

FLOOR: Zero TDs, 150 yards, and a quick drop down the depth chart.

PREDICTION: These guys weren’t special last year, hard to get excited. 3 TDs, 400 yards.

WR4: Marquez Valdes-Scantling

CEILING: 5 TDs, 600 yards, and WR3 locked down.

FLOOR: Zero TDs, 150 yards, and countless fantasy owners who were tricked two years ago.

PREDICTION: MVS disappointed in 2019 and regressed in most categories. I think he scores 1 TD along with 200 yards.

WR5: Equanimeous St. Brown

CEILING: 6 TDs, 500 yards, and WR3 along with red zone weapon status.

FLOOR: Zero TDs, Zero yards, Zero playing time.

PREDICTION: These receivers are so weird. I like St. Brown because of his size, but not sure the opportunity is there. 2 TDs, 200 yards.

WR6: Jake Kumerow

CEILING: 6 TDs, 500 yards, and WR3. Who is going to win WR3 in Green Bay?!

FLOOR: Zero TDs, 100 yards, and virtually no reps.

PREDICTION: Kumerow actually showed me some potential last year, but I don’t see him climbing up too far. 1 TD, 200 yards.

WR7: Darrius Shepherd

CEILING: Making the team, he can contribute on special teams.

FLOOR: Not making the team, there are too many other mouths to feed.

PREDICTION: He plays on special teams.

Ceilings and Floors: Tight End

Ceilings and Floors
TE1: Jace Sternberger

CEILING: Breakout alert. 8 TDs, 850 yards, and a fully functional hype-train.

FLOOR: 3 TDs, 400 yards. He is going to be TE1.

PREDICTION: I like 5 TDs and 650 yards, Sternberger is going to be ranked much higher going into 2021.

TE2: Marcedes Lewis

CEILING: 4 TDs, 500 yards, and a solid TE2.

FLOOR: 1 TD, 150 yards, inconsequential in fantasy.

PREDICTION: Lewis is an experienced vet, but his best days are behind him. I think 2 TDs and 300 yards.

TE3: Robert Tonyan

CEILING: Wins the TE2 spot, and scores 5 TDs along with 600 yards receiving.

FLOOR: Receives almost no touches, and is beaten out by 36 year old Marcedes Lewis.

PREDICTION: He has some potential, his yards per touch numbers impress, but will he get the opportunity? I think he winds up as TE2, and scores 3 TDs along with 400 yards.

TE4: Josiah Deguara

CEILING: Deguara gets a handful of touches, and scores 2 TDs along with 200 yards.

FLOOR: He does not play, and takes a while to learn the offense.

PREDICTION: He has dynasty potential, but in 2020, don’t think so. Zero TDs 100 yards.

TE5: Jordan Jones

CEILING: He scores on the only touch he gets all year, and has an epic Lambeau Leap.

FLOOR: He tries celebrating a TD with someone who scores, and fans stiff-arm him back onto the field.

PREDICTION: He is never gonna be on the field, so his chances of being stiff-armed by fans are low, thankfully.

Special shout out to my dad, Tim, who is the biggest Packer fan in the world, and a big reason I love football. Football, and Sundays, are better because of you.

  1. Interesting on Aaron Rodgers. The truth is no one has any idea where his heart or soul exists. Would love to see him hit the ceiling. Mr. Rodgers does not appear to live for football any more. Whether Danica, money, or the hype of past Aaron just does not seem passionate. Please prove me wrong A-Rod. If not then maybe it is time for a little bit of Love.
