Cheaper Bellcow RBs to Draft

Bellcow RBs are a dying breed. More and more coaches are using committees at the position. This is why workhorses like Christian McCaffery, Saquon Barkley, and Najee Harris are drafted in the early rounds. However, there are some who are slipping through the cracks. Here are some cheaper bellcow RBs to draft.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed. These are just players who, if healthy, can get a high snap percentage. There are also free agents still available who can change the depth charts on these teams so make sure to stay on top of the news.

Miles Sanders (ADP: 48)

Frank Reich says he views Miles Sanders as a three-down back. He has been the primary back in Philadelphia but has not really been a workhorse. But now he has a chance to be that in Carolina. The offence may not be amazing with a rookie behind centre, but Bryce Young has thrown to RBs a lot in college and there isn’t anyone of note behind Sanders. He also has a pretty good line to run behind so I expect Sanders to at minimum live up to his ADP.

Cam Akers (ADP: 55)

Sean McVay seems to have a love-hate relationship with Cam Akers but he is the clear leader of the depth chart and has shown that he can play every down. After McVay seemed like he wanted to get rid of Akers early in the season, he ended up turning him into an every-down back later in the season. It seems like that may continue into 2023.

Alexander Mattison (ADP: 56)

He was popular in fantasy as Dalvin Cook‘s handcuff for the past few years, and he often lived up to that when given the opportunity. With Cook gone, Alexander Mattison is expected to do what he’s done when he had to fill Dalvin’s shoes. However, I am most nervous about him as I think he is the most likely to get added competition from one of the veteran free agents.

James Conner (ADP: 58)

James Conner has been a top-10 RB in points per game over the past two years. The only thing holding him back has been health. Arizona should continue to lean on him and if healthy, he can easily outperform his ADP.

Wrap-Up

These guys are all going around the same round so you may not be able to grab more than one. However, I would definitely consider planning on going for an RB around rounds 4-5.
