DEF/ST Fantasy Football: DAWGS Or FRAUDS Week 3

Week 3 has just finished, and we will look back at the best and worst DEF/ST Fantasy Football performances of the week. Take note that we are using Sleeper’s PPR scoring system for this analysis.

Golden DAWG: Philadelphia Eagles 20 FP

2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble Recovery, 9 Sacks, 1-6 Points Allowed (Projected: 9.20 FP)

The Eagles’ defense gave Carson Wentz trouble

The Philadelphia Eagles gave the Commanders nightmares by sacking them nine times and forcing two fumbles. Brandon Graham led the way with two and a half sacks, and the pressure got to Carson Wentz. Wentz played his worst game of the year. The Eagles’ defense makes them a top threat in the NFC, and they are an elite DEF/ST in fantasy football.

Silver DAWG: Cincinnati Bengals 19 FP

3 Forced Fumbles, 2 Fumble Recoveries, 2 Interceptions, 4 Sacks, 7-13 Points Allowed (Projected: 9.46 FP)

Trey Hendrickson sacking Joe Flacco

The Cincinnati Bengals got their first win of the year when they defeated the Jets. The defense led by Trey Hendrickson gave Joe Flacco trouble. The Bengals’ defense needs to step up if they want to catch up and claim the AFC North title.

Bronze DAWG: Denver Broncos 17 FP

1 Forced Fumble, 2 Fumble Recoveries, 1 Interception, 4 Sacks, 1 Safety, 7-13 Points Allowed (Projected: 7.69 FP)

The Broncos defense pressuring Jimmy G

The Denver Broncos won an ugly game against the San Francisco 49ers in SNF. The Broncos’ defense kept them in the game as they made Jimmy Garoppolo struggle in his first start this season. Denver will rely on their defense while their offense is still slowly getting there.

Golden FRAUD: Los Angeles Chargers -4 FP

35+ Points Allowed (Projected: 9.41 FP)

Travis Etienne giving a stiff arm to a Chargers defender

The Los Angeles Chargers defense had no answers for Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars offense. Trevor threw for 262 yards and three TDs while their RB duo ran for 145 yards against the Chargers’ defense. The Chargers have started slow this season and hope to bounce back against the Texans in Week 4.

Silver FRAUD: New York Giants 0 FP

21-27 Points Allowed (Projected: 9.95 FP)

The Cowboys ran all over the Giants’ defense

The New York Giants got no defensive stats in their loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Cooper Rush played a solid game, and the Cowboys’ RB duo ran for 178 yards and a TD. The Giants will face a run-heavy team in the Chicago Bears next week. Let us see if they can figure out their run defense.

Bronze FRAUD: Pittsburgh Steelers 2 FP

2 Sacks, 28-34 Points Allowed (Projected: 8.34 FP)

The Browns running all over the Steelers

Jacoby Brissett looked comfortable in the Cleveland Browns’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers’ defense did create pressure which resulted in two sacks. While the offense looks a little stagnant, the Steelers’ defense needs to take charge for Pittsburgh to gather some wins.
