Dynasty Rankings 2020–Running Backs 60-51

Dynasty Rankings 2020

We live in an era where the majority of the teams in the NFL are pass-first, but the crazy thing is; the top 5* passing teams didn’t make the playoffs and the top 5* rushing teams did. The running back position doesn’t last forever with repetitive hits over and over again. Therefore, in dynasty leagues, it is essential to target young backs with loads of potential.

This set of dynasty rankings 2020 features some rookie running backs that won’t be selected in the first 2 rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft, however, they still have talent and skill that could provide owners fantasy gold in dynasty leagues. In this article, I preview my dynasty rankings 2020 running backs 60-51:

Read who I have ranked at RB: 70-61

Don’t forget to check out where I ranked my dynasty QB (Post Combine):1-2526-44

60. Duke Johnson

Duke Johnson is not a high profile back in the NFL, nor should he be. Johnson was irrelevant for his first couple of years with the Browns and didn’t make a splash with the Texans. He never tallied over 10 rushes in 2019 and had few games where he managed double-digit touches. But the games he did receive over 10 touches he made the most of it by averaging more than 10 points in PPR. Going into the 2020 season I do not expect a consistent dose of Duke Johnson and feel the Texans might be making some offseason changes to the position.

Dynasty Rankings 2020

59. Bo Scarbrough

After Kerryon Johnson went down in Week 4, Matt Patricia and the Detriot Lions struggled to find an RB that was willing to take the next step for the team. Bo Scarbrough took over the lead role in Week 11 against the Dallas Cowboys. Scarbrough is a bigger back that is hard to bring down but he lacks true speed and elusiveness. Kerryon Johnson will be back in 2020, however, it remains in question if he can stay healthy. Drafting Bo Scarbrough as a hand-cuff to your Kerryon Johnson shares is the way to approach dynasty drafts.

58. AJ Dillon

AJ Dillon is an incoming rookie from Boston College and while he isn’t a household name, people will soon find out. He rushed for over 1,100 yards in his three years as a starter. Dillion also managed to rush for double-digit touchdowns in his three years. AJ is listed 6’0” 250lb and the only other player listed similar to that is Derrick Henry. Dillion’s ability to carry the ball 30 times a game like Henry will have scouts paying close attention. For dynasty purposes, if Dillion lands on the right team, he will be a diamond in the rough.

57. Bryce Love

Bryce Love was selected in the 4th round of the 2019 draft by the Washington Redskins. After choosing to stay another year at Stanford, Love seemed less explosive and suffered a knee injury. Love struggled with the same knee injury during the 2019 training camp and underwent surgery again to repair it. There is much concern for Love’s constant knee stiffness that may have caused his past knee injuries. The only upside for Love is that Redskins’ backfield is wide open. I think that if Love suffers another injury that he will be done with football as he aspires to be a doctor. Love is a very deep sleeper with tons of risk in the 2020 dynasty drafts.

56. Chase Edmonds

Edmonds took advantage of his extended role in Week 7 against the Giants as he ran for 126 yards and 3 TD on 27 carries. I would have to believe the Cardinals will look to ship David Johnson away this offseason and use Kenyan Drake as their back. This would slide Edmonds in the backup role. There is a chance the Cardinals would use a 3 RB approach, but there wouldn’t be enough opportunities for Edmonds to be fantasy relevant. As the Cardinals backfield narrows down, I would grow on Edmonds. Until then, Edmonds isn’t on my radar in dynasty drafts due to the crowded backfield.

55. Eno Benjamin

Benjamin knew how to move the chains at Arizona State, and that is all I think he is. He has great vision and ability to cut into the seam and get up the field. He will be picked on Day 2 on the NFL draft, but by watching his tape, he looks like Sony Michel or an early LeGarrette Blount to me. Eno struggles in pass blocking which is something scouts will pick him apart for. Despite being deeper in my ranking, if selected by the right team, Benjamin could provide fantasy points in a year or two. I would still be cautious as there are much better rookie backs that will provide dynasty gold from the start. Benjamin’s stock rose greatly after a strong performance in the Senior Bowl.

54. Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Clyde-Edwards Helaire is a talented running back out of LSU and put up a rather impressive 2019 campaign. His rushing stats were 215/1,414/16 and his receiving stats were 55/453/1. However, due to his small, agile frame, I do not see him becoming a workhorse back. Although, I would say he would fit perfectly in an RBC backfield or as a 3rd down back. I see Edwards-Helaire fitting into situations like Jacksonville and Houston to back up their current starters. I see Edwards-Helaire being a low-round pick in dynasty.

53. Derrius Guice

There is some love going around about Guice for the 2020 season and some people projecting a breakout year for him. I believe we will never witness what Guice had back when he was at LSU. His agility, bruising, and relentless style of running is a thing in the past. Guice is entering his 3rd year in the NFL and has had three separate knee injuries. He tore his ACL his rookie year, tore his meniscus in his second year, and sprained his MCL to close his second year. The odds are not in Guice’s favor to last long in the NFL and is why I have him ranked 53rd in my RB dynasty rankings.

52. Zack Moss

Moss is a patient runner with great natural field vision that makes him a great inside zone RB. There is no rush in his game as he waits for his offensive line to make holes for him to run. His style of play is working as he had 219 carries for 1,359 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground in 2019. Moss also has solid hands and is reliable in pass protection. Moss displays raw power and natural speed. Whatever team Moss lands on, he can and should be a 3 down back. Grab Moss in dynasty drafts if he lands on a team where he will be an instant contributor.

Dynasty Rankings 2020

51. Royce Freeman

Fangio led us to believe that Freeman would get more of the workload in 2019. Despite playing in 2 more games in 2019 than 2018, Freeman only had 2 more carries to his total. The Broncos struggled to get anything going offensively until Drew Lock became the starter. Freeman has shown that he can be a good RB in this league, but currently still sits behind Philip Lindsay. Freeman may never take the lead role and doesn’t get enough carries to be a consistent fantasy producer. I wouldn’t target Freeman in dynasty drafts unless I was handcuffing Philip Lindsay.
