Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Week 14

Welcome to Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Week 14! I know March Madness has just gone underway, but now is the time to pounce on waiver wire pickups while they’re busy complaining about their brackets. With more unfortunate injuries to superstars, it’s time for other players to step up. Week 14 is dominated by wing players, so if you are in need of a wing, you have come to the right place.

As always, do not feel obligated to pick up anyone if you do not have room on your roster. I will be providing weekly waiver wire pickup suggestions that are mainly for nine-category leagues. The picks are based on players being rostered in less than 30-percent of fantasy basketball teams. Here are some waiver wire pickups for week 14.

SG/SF Talen Horton-Tucker, LAL (@NO, PHI, CLE, ORL)

Remember when Tucker was considered a huge sleep during preseason? Well now is his chance to prove it. Lebron James has unfortunately injured his ankle and now the Lakers are without both James and Davis. In the Lakers’ most recent game without James and Davis, Tucker had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block. That was not the greatest stat line, but it is enough to show that Tucker will be a viable fantasy pickup while playing between 28-32 minutes a game. Tucker will have to improve because they are going to need him to step up. The Lakers have four games this week.

SG/SF Danny Green, PHI (@GS, @LAL, @LAC)

Danny Green is not the most talented player on the Sixers. But this past week has been some of his best basketball of the season. Green has averaged 15.7 points, 4 rebounds, 4.3 three-pointers made, 3 steals, and 1.5 blocks. The Sixers only play three games this week, but do play on both Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This means you can theoretically look for someone else on the wire for Sunday if you choose to do so.

SG Jordan Poole, GS (PHI, @SAC, ATL)

Jordan Poole has not been consistent since he first entered the league. But Poole has found his stride especially recently with Stephen Curry now sidelined with a tailbone contusion. In the past three games, Poole averaged 24.6 points, 4 three-pointers made, 3 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals while shooting 54-percent from the field. Like it was mentioned with the Sixers above, The Warriors play only three times this week, but two of the games are also played on Tuesday and Thursday. Jordan Poole can be a productive pickup until Curry returns.

PF/C Daniel Theis, BOS (@MEM, @MIL, @MIL, @OKC)

Even with Robert Williams lurking behind him, Daniel Theis has started to put some consistent production over the past three games. Theis has averaged 13.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. If you are in a deep league and need big man production, Theis may still be on your waiver wire. The Celtics have four games this week, which should help boost his value.
