Fantasy Football, Trending

Fantasy Football Week 5 Sleepers & Streamers

Another week, another list of players to get your fantasy football team over the hump. No one would have thought after 4 weeks, that Russell Wilson, Kyle Pitts, and Alvin Kamara would be dishing out bench player numbers. On the other hand, there’s always a solution. Always a player who can fix your fantasy woes. Check out the Week 5 list of Sleepers and Streamers!

The difference between sleepers and streamers in fantasy football. Sleepers are players that will continue to stay on your roster, perhaps in a backup or handcuff role. They are poised to have a big week based on matchup or injury. On the other hand, streamers are players that will be relevant only for this week. They are a quick pick up and drop, hopefully with a big fantasy week inbetween.

Titans D/ST – (at Commanders)

The Titans and Commanders are trending in two very opposite directions. The Titans have found their groove and are riding a 2 game winning streak. The Commanders are on a 3 game losing streak. Over the 3 games, the Commanders have only scored 18 points total. Carson Wentz has 5 INTs and has been sacked 17 times. There is a ton of potential for a huge defensive game for the Titans. Even if they allow a modest amount of points, there is potential for multiple INTs and sacks. Streamer

Bailey Zappe – New England Patriots QB (vs Lions)

Mac Jones is still limited and it looks unlikely that he will play in Week 5. In comes Bailey Zappe for his first career NFL start. Zappe comes from Western Kentucky where he set the Division I NCAA record with 62 passing TDs in a season. The Lions are averaging 290 passing yards and 1.75 TDs per game to quarterbacks. Zappe may not be a starter in the NFL, but against a soft Lions defense, he is a great streaming option. Put Zappe in your fantasy football lineups this week. Streamer

Zach Wilson – New York Jets QB (vs Dolphins)

The Jets welcomed back Zach Wilson in Week 4 against the Steelers. Wilson was able to throw for 252 yards and 1 TD, while catching a TD pass in the win. In Week 5, he has a strong matchup against the Dolphins at home. The Dolphins are allowing 304 yards and 2 TDs per game through the air. They’ve already allowed Josh Allen to throw 400 yards and Lamar Jackson to throw 318 yards. This is the best matchup Wilson may have faced in his short 2 year career. The numbers are heavy in favor of starting Wilson this week. Sleeper

Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars QB (vs Texans)

The Jags had a tough matchup against the undefeated Eagles in Week 4. Trevor Lawrence had a case of fumblitis and only was able to pass for 174 yards. Week 5 is a much easier matchup against the Texans. They are allowing 255 yards per game and have already allowed two games over 340 yards. However, the Texans are stingy in allowing passing TDs, only allowing 4 this season. Lawrence has a chance at over 300 passing yards, but perhaps only 1 or 2 TDs. Still a strong sleeper start. Sleeper

Michael Gallup – Dallas Cowboys WR (at Rams)

The Rams have been struggling this year against wide receivers. They have allowed at least one WR to catch 115 yards in every game but one. On average, they are allowing 30.5 PPG in standard leagues, and 47.5 PPG in PPR leagues against wide receivers. Jalen Ramsey will likely cover CeeDee Lamb most of the afternoon, allowing Gallup to feast on the weaker secondary. Sleeper

Khalil Shakir – Buffalo Bills WR (vs Steelers)

Similar to the above-mentioned Rams, the Steelers have allowed a WR to catch over 100 yards in 3 out of 4 games. Shakir has a chance this week to take over WR3 duties with the injuries to Isaiah Mckenzie and Jamison Crowder. Mckenzie has thrived in the role, ranking inside the top 35 of all wide receivers through 4 weeks. The Bills have a high powered passing offense that allows multiple players to shine weekly. If Mckenzie is ruled out, Shakir becomes a high risk/high reward Flex start. Streamer.

Logan Thomas – Washington Commanders TE (vs Titans)

The Titans D/ST is a streaming option this week, but the one bright spot for Washington may be Logan Thomas. In Week 4, the Colts’ tight ends managed to catch 11 passes for 180 yards and 2 TDs. Thomas played 74% of the snaps in Week 4, and finished with 5 catches, which were the most on the team. The Commanders have been struggling, but Thomas has been getting plenty of targets. Outside of the top 5 tight ends, Thomas is the next best option.Streamer
