Odell Beckham Jr. is a beautiful, talented, young man. He has seen a storied career, even with bad teams. Just today, he was banned from LSU for two years AND said he is immune from COVID-19. With these power moves, you’d think he would be a reliable fantasy wide receiver, right? He’s always projected in the top 20, he’s a household name, he’s a cutie, I’m taking him. But it bites me in the ass every, single, time. Why is it that Odell is so good on the field, and so bad on my lineup? Have you or someone you know drafted Odell and faced serious projection repercussions after starting OBJ? We are here to help. Let’s look at some theories as to why Odell may be so bad at fantasy.
Odell Was Hurt by Fantasy as a Child
Picture it: Odell is at Isidore Newman High School, following in the footsteps of the Manning brothers to go from Newman into the NFL. He watches these stars every Sunday as they live his dream, the dream that’s coming alive as he commits to LSU. All the while, he plays in a fantasy league with his family. Odell and Cooper Manning are the only Newman boys to have 1,000 yard seasons, and OBJ can’t win a single fantasy game. His favorite players aren’t reliable, his unathletic cousin is crushing him to a losing record, and he begins to question what his poor fantasy play means for his career. This trauma has directly led to Odell sabotaging our seasons every, single year.
Odell is Actually a Quarterback Suffering as a WR
Odell is like all of us, and do any of us know what we are really doing? His biggest plays are either one-hand catches, or more frequently, passing plays. How is it that Odell pretty much consistently makes the passes he throws, yet he and Baker can’t connect? Now, I am no advocate that Baker Mayfield is a good quarterback. But, is Odell sabotaging our fantasy seasons because his quarter life crisis has led him to discover he wants to be a quarterback? Should he be my QB starting replacement for Dak’s mutilated ankle? My quarter life crisis is telling me to move to Montana and open a pub, maybe OBJ wants to change positions.
Odell Lost a Bad Fantasy Bet to Jarvis Landry
Jarvis Landry is a fine wide receiver. He, like Odell, is suffering in the clutches of Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland curse. However, there is absolutely no reason Baker should have this much more chemistry with Landry than OBJ. The only explanation has to date back to their high school training days. The two trained for college and the NFL together, and Odell got his wish: they are on the same team. When Odell said, “I want to do some legendary things,” he clearly meant tank his career and give Landry all of the throws he would need to propel me to a fantasy win. What is truly legendary, is that OBJ can still be projected so high each year, with the same cruel results. Jarvis Landry has played some dirty tricks to tinker with each and every one of our rosters, and we should investigate thoroughly.
In high school, Odell Beckham Jr. told Jarvis Landry: “I want to be on the same team as you, I want to do some legendary things.”

Odell’s Hair Dye Bleached the Football Skills Out
Like I said, Odell is a cutie. Maybe I fall weak to drafting him every year because his tiny little draft photo gives me those eyes and swoons me. Even though OBJ has come to his senses and no longer has this iconic bleached look, the damage is already done. Odell bleached those handsome locks and it seeped into his football-filled skull and broke it. He forgot how to play football when he thought this hairdo was a good idea, and now we fantasy owners are paying for it; waiting for nature to heal with his natural hair. Maybe Odell’s bleached hair had a mind of its own, sabotaged his thinking so he turned against us fantasy owners? Basically the bleach hair is the equivalent to Dan Snyder sabotaging the Washington Football Team.
Odell’s on My Team; What Do I Do?
Have no fear my friend, we have all been here. Every team has a gamble, and Odell is our little gamble. Will he go rogue and steal the snaps from Baker? Will Jarvis Landry completely bench him? Or will he re-dye his hair and send us all completely into the void? It’s impossible to say. Will Odell even stay with the Browns? His demons will most likely follow him. Join me in riding the OBJ rollercoaster through the season and see where he takes us next.
