Minshew Mania overcame us in 2019. Well in 2020, the mustache is taking the reins for himself day one. The Jaguars are a tough team to project for 2020. Good thing I am freaking awesome at this! In case you missed it, last time we covered the Indianapolis Colts. So here we are in Jaguar country. Do Jaguars even have mustache’s?
QB:
Gardner Minshew: Passing: 336/524-3,784, 26 TD: 7 INT
Rushing: 61-311-1 TD: 10 FMBL
Standard: 275.46 (18)
0.5 PPR: 275.46 (18)
1 PPR: 275.46 (18)
Mike Glennon: Passing: This is not what he is good at. He should stick to, wait, what is he good at?
Rushing: Not good at this either. yikes. Let’s hope Minshew’s Mustache keeps him healthy.
Minshew is incredibly difficult to project. How good is the Jaguars offense going to be? Minshew flashed, but defenses have tape on him now. The Jaguars have to hope he continues improving, and they found their guy. I hope so, he is fun to watch. Take his projections with a grain of salt. If his mustache is longer, project higher. If he shaves it, avoid. He’s like Sampson, his hair gives him power.
Good lord, Mike Glennon on the field is a legitimate disaster for Jacksonville. Don’t let this happen.
RB:
Leonard Fournette: Rushing: 268-1,091, 6 TD: 1 FMBL
Receiving: 76 targets, 59 catches, 425 yards, 2 TD
Standard: 198.6 (15)
0.5 PPR: 228.1 (14)
1 PPR: 257.6 (11)
Chris Thompson: Rushing: 36-142-1 TD
Receiving: 49 targets, 36 catches, 309 Yds, 1 TD
Standard: 57.1 (59)
0.5 PPR: 75.1 (56)
1 PPR: 93.1 (56)
Ryquell Armstead: Rushing: 48-173-2 TD
Receiving: 13 targets, 7 catches, 68 Yds, 1 TD
Standard: 42.1 (70)
0.5 PPR: 45.6 (71)
1 PPR: 49.1 (73)
The Jaguars got to see Fournette the pass catcher in 2019. The 25-year-old had 100 targets and caught 76 balls. We might not see that same volume in 2020, but he did prove himself more than capable as a pass-catcher. Now, there is no way he can get as unlucky in 2020 when it comes to TDs. I expect a regression toward his career norms. He offers high-upside and low-floor potential, however, the touches should be there so he should be a relatively safe pick in fantasy. Like Minshew, I struggled with Fournette, especially in the TD department.
Thompson has experience with new OC Jay Gruden. He should see some targets, and some touches, but Fournette makes both him and Armstead obsolete in fantasy. An injury to Fournette could make both of them relatively valuable, but only as flex options at best.
WR:
DJ Chark: Rushing: 3-25, 1 FMBL
Receiving: 124 targets, 80 catches, 1,093 Yds, 9 TD
Standard: 164.8 (11)
0.5 PPR: 204.8 (11)
1 PPR: 244.8 (10)
Laviska Shenault: Rushing: 5-39-1 TD
Receiving: 50 targets, 33 catches, 395 Yds, 3 TD
Standard: 67.4 (73)
0.5 PPR: 83.9 (76)
1 PPR: 100.4 (77)
Dede Westbrook: Rushing: 3-26. 1 FMBL
Receiving: 62 targets, 35 catches, 419 Yds, 3 TD
Standard: 61.5 (82)
0.5 PPR: 79 (81)
1 PPR: 96.5 (81)
Chris Conley: Receiving: 49 targets, 26 catches, 378 Yds, 2 TD
Standard: 49.8 (93)
0.5 PPR: 62.8 (94)
1 PPR: 75.8 (93)
Keelan Cole: Receiving: 19 targets, 10 catches, 148 Yds, 1 TD: 1 FMBL
Standard: 19.8 (123)
0.5 PPR: 24.8 (127)
1 PPR: 29.8 (128)
Who has two thumbs and is ready for some Chark attacks in 2020? This guy(I am pointing at myself). I am all over Chark, who gets a full season with Minshew in 2020. Chark exploded in 2019, and he should have an even better year in 2020. This guy is getting slept on hard, don’t fall for that crap. Chark is primed to be a legit WR1 in 2020. Draft him as such. The guy has a nose for the end-zone.
As we look at the other Jaguars WRs, we see a lot of questions. Who will finish as the WR2? Who does Minshew like? Westbrook enters the year as the incumbent WR2, but the addition of Shenault clouds things. Laviska is incredibly talented. Honestly, this WR corps is deeper than most are acknowledging. Good luck knowing which emerges, but my money is on Shenault. But I won’t lie, they might all poo on each other’s ceilings, and outside heavy exposure to Chark, I am not keen on acquiring any of these guys. However, Shenault will get some looks from me.
TE:
Tyler Eifert: Receiving: 48 targets, 30 catches, 328 Yds, 2 TD
Standard: 44.8 (34)
0.5 PPR: 59.8 (34)
1 PPR: 74.8 (34)
Josh Oliver: Receiving: 29 targets, 17 catches, 183 Yds, 2 TD
Standard: 30.3 (49)
0.5 PPR: 38.8 (48)
1 PPR: 47.3 (48)
Eifert seems to be a placeholder for Oliver, if I have to be honest. Injuries have made him obsolete the last three years. If he can stay healthy, he might provide serviceable numbers, but it’s Oliver who intrigues me more. Injuries are a concern there as well, but he is younger and provides the higher ceiling now and especially in the future. The Jaguars may have found a gem in him, and I wanted to project him higher but Eifert is currently in his way. An early season injury to Eifert will have me jumping all over Oliver in all formats.
I have the Jaguars scoring 1183.46 points in a 0.5 PPR format. That ranks 25th. But as I stated before, this team is very difficult to project. Chark is a no-brainer for me, and Fournette and Minshew will both be on some of my teams. However, the rest are big gambles, and I like more surefire options.
