Week 1 has just finished, and we will look back at the best and worst QB Fantasy Football performances of the week. Take note that we are using Sleeper’s PPR scoring system for this analysis.
Golden DAWG: Carson Wentz 29.70 FP
313 Passing Yards, 4 Passing TDs, 2 Interceptions, 6 Carries, 12 Rushing Yards, 1 2-Pt Conversion (Projected 17.94 FP)
Carson Wentz looked like his vintage self when he made his debut for the Washington Commanders. He completed 27 of 41 passes with four TDs and 313 yards. Wentz is definitely a risk-taker and a difficult player to gauge in fantasy. Let’s see how he performs in Week 2.
Silver DAWG: Patrick Mahomes 34.90 FP
360 Passing Yards, 5 Passing TDs, 3 Carries, 5 Rushing Yards, 1 Fumble (Projected 24.73 FP)
No Tyreek Hill, no problem. Patrick Mahomes led all QBs in fantasy football with 33.90 pts against the Cardinals. He threw five TDs to four different receivers and just looked brilliant. People were worried that the absence of Tyreek would hurt Mahomes, but this makes him look much more impressive.
Bronze DAWG: Josh Allen 33.48 FP
297 Passing Yards, 3 Passing TDs, 2 Interceptions, 10 Carries, 56 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD (Projected 24.35 FP)
What an opening game statement by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. In the season’s first game, Josh Allen balled out, completing 26 of 31 passes with 297 passing yards and three passing TDs. He also led the rushing attack, which was highlighted by a massive stiff-arm on a Rams defender and a rushing TD where he stretched for the endzone. Allen’s passing and running game makes him a popular pick for the top QB in fantasy football. This could be the beginning of an amazing season for the Bills, especially with almost everyone picking them to win the Superbowl.
Golden FRAUD: Aaron Rodgers 3.70 FP
195 Passing Yards, 1 Interception, 1 Carry, -1 Rushing Yards, 1 Fumble, 1 Fumble Lost (Projected 20.22 FP)
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers had a rough start to the year. The offense looked lost, and Rodgers still doesn’t know who will replace Davante Adams as his reliable WR. Surprisingly, it was AJ Dillon who led Green Bay in receiving. Rodgers hopes to bounce back against the Bears in Week 2.
Silver FRAUD: Matthew Stafford 9.80 FP
240 Passing Yards, 1 Passing TD, 3 Interceptions, 1 Carry, 2 Rushing Yards, 1 Fumble (Projected 20.06 FP)
The LA Rams started their reign with a bad loss to the Buffalo Bills. Matthew Stafford relied heavily on Cooper Kupp and Darrell Henderson. With everyone else, Stafford lacked the chemistry, especially with Allen Robinson, who he only targeted twice. Credit is given to the Bills’ defense led by Von Miller, who had multiple pressures, seven sacks, and three interceptions on Stafford. Stafford gets a much easier assignment next week when they face the Falcons.
Bronze FRAUD: Tom Brady 11.38 FP
212 Passing Yards, 1 Passing TD, 1 Interception, 2 Carries, -1 Rushing Yards (Projected 21.38 FP)
Tom Brady looked solid in his season debut against the Cowboys. However, solid doesn’t always result in fantasy points. He looked a little rusty at times, including getting sacked on multiple third downs, which led to FGs. Brady did miss some time in the offseason to handle personal issues, so hopefully, he looks more relaxed and ready in Week 2.
