RB Fantasy Football: DAWGS Or FRAUDS Week 1

Week 1 has just finished, and we will look back at the best and worst RB Fantasy Football performances of the week. Take note that we are using Sleeper’s PPR scoring system for this analysis.

Golden DAWG: Dontrell Hilliard 21.90 FP

2 Carries, 8 Rushing Yards, 3 Receptions, 61 Receiving Yards, 2 Receiving TDs (Projected 6.38 FP)

Dontrell Hilliard celebrating against the Giants

Dontrell Hilliard balled out in the season opener of the Titans against the Giants. He caught three balls for 61 receiving yards and two TDs. Before this game, he had zero receiving TDs. With the Titans still trying to figure out the receiving corp, Dontrell could be an interesting target for Ryan Tannehill.

Silver DAWG: Saquon Barkley 33 FP

18 Carries, 164 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD, 6 Receptions, 30 Receiving Yards, 1 2-Pt Conversion (Projected 17.99 FP)

Saquon Barkley breaking a tackle

Saquon Barkley put out a vintage performance in Week 1. He rushed for 164 yards and scored a 2-pt conversion which turned out to be the game-winner. After being limited by injuries the past few seasons, Saquon finally looks healthy and could be the best RB in fantasy football.

Bronze DAWG: James Robinson 19.90 FP

11 Carries, 66 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD, 1 Reception, 3 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD (Projected 6.66 FP)

James Robinson celebrating in the endzone

James Robinson led the Jaguars backfield against the Commanders in Week 1. Many expected Travis Etienne to be the lead, but he and James had nearly identical total snaps. Robinson took more of the carries while Etienne had more of the snaps in the passing game. James looked good even though he suffered a major injury nine months ago.

Golden FRAUD: Derrick Henry 8.20 FP

21 Carries, 82 Rushing Yards (Projected 19.70 FP)

Derrick Henry had the volume workload, but the yards didn’t match up. With 21 carries, he only averaged under four yards per carry. A concerning number is that he also had no impact in the passing game. Let’s see if he can bounce back against the Bills next week.

Silver FRAUD: Alvin Kamara 7.60 FP

9 Carries, 39 Rushing Yards, 3 Reception, 7 Receiving Yards (Projected 18.84 FP)

Alvin Kamara had a much smaller workload than we’re used to starting the season. This might be due to his rib issue during the game. Alvin still stayed in the game, and the Saints decided to use their other RBs to give Kamara some time to rest. Let’s see if he will be healthy for the upcoming week.

Bronze FRAUD: Austin Ekeler 11.20 FP

14 Carries, 36 Rushing Yards, 4 Receptions, 36 Receiving Yards (Projected 21.41 FP)

Austin Ekeler wasn’t his usual self during their win against the Raiders. In 14 carries, Ekeler averaged less than three yards per carry. His pass-catching did give him some points to help his fantasy owners out. He has a matchup with the Chiefs in Week 2.
