The AFC West Is Quarterback Heaven

Looking for great Quarterback Play, look West. The AFC West is Quarterback heaven. With the 2022 Fantasy season right around the corner and you start to put together your draft strategy. The Quarterback position will have a ton of options this year. But only one division has elite Quarterback play from top to bottom.

If you’re anything like me, going into your draft you want to solidify three key positions. Running Back, Receiver and Quarterback. In my years of playing fantasy football, I’ve always done well when I had a solid Quarterback, giving me between 20-25 points. It made it easier for me, one less position to worry about. This year if you’re looking for a top Quarterback play look no further than the AFC West.

Last year all starting five QB’s finished in the top 20 in QB scoring. Two finished in the top five. All four teams in the AFC West have solid weapons on their respected rosters as well. This will give all four Quarterbacks promising seasons to look forward to.

Patrick Mahomes

Let’s start with the reigning king of the AFC West, none other than the great Patrick Mahomes. Last year he finished fourth overall in Quarterback scoring with 374 points. The funny thing is, that’s a down season for Mr. Mahomes. He had a career-high in interceptions (13) but still threw for close to 5,000 yards and 37 TDs. Even with the loss of Tyreek Hill, Mahomes should still finish in the top five of scoring QBs. So draft him with confidence.

Justin Herbert

The young gunslinger out of Los Angles finished second overall in Quarterback scoring. Justin Herbert is only 24 and will only get better. He threw for 5,000 yards and 38 TDs. With his supporting cast returning in full we can expect the same from young Herbert. The sweet spot for drafting this young gunner is the third to the fourth round. Don’t reach without making sure you have solid starters to compliment him on your fantasy roster.

Derek Carr

This next Quarterback in this arms race of the AFC West is my sneaky pick for fantasy MVP for ‘22. I know there isn’t such a thing but if there was he would be in the running. Derek Carr finished 13th overall in QB scoring last year. Carr threw for 4,800 yards without a true WR1 and his top TE missing six games. With the addition of his college buddy Davante Adams added to the roster, Carr should put up close to 40 TDs and hit the 5,000-yard mark. With the rest of the fantasy world sleeping on the emergence of Carr, you could easily pick up Carr in the later rounds.

Russell Wilson

Last but not least is the transplant from Seattle, Mr. Danger man himself, Russell Wilson. Even though Mr. Wilson missed three games he was still a menace on the fantasy field. Russell finished 16th in Quarterback scoring. He finished with slightly over 3,000 yards passing and 25 TDs. 2022 will for sure have a different outcome for the new Denver QB. Surrounded by a young talented offense we can for sure see him climbing himself back into the top ten. Others may sleep on Mr. Wilson, but please don’t let him slip too far out of grasp and snatch him up around rounds 9 or 10.

To succeed in the fantasy world you are going to need a solid consistent Quarterback. One surrounded by great weapons and a solid system. Look no further than AFC West, Quarterback fantasy heaven.
