This Could Be Your Fantasy Team in 2023

This is an exercise I like to do every year. If everything went according to half-PPR ADP, these are players you can get no matter what draft position you have. This could be your fantasy team in 2023.

I will do this based off of a 12 team league where you need to start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, and 2 RB/WR/TE FLEXes. I’ll add a couple of bench players too.

Draft

Team

  • QB: Geno Smith
  • RB: Najee Harris
  • RB: Miles Sanders
  • WR: A.J. Brown
  • WR: Keenan Allen
  • TE: Pat Freiermuth
  • FLEX: Diontae Johnson
  • FLEX: Chris Godwin
  • Bench: Khalil Herbert
  • Bench: Jerick McKinnon

Analysis

I think this team has a very good chance of winning with solid floors and big ceilings. Geno Smith was the QB5 last year and got 2 great new weapons. I’m not saying he’ll finish as QB5 again, but I think he’ll be an average fantasy QB with weapons that can carry him to big weeks. At RB, there are two bellcow RBs in a time with very few bellcows. Khalil and McKinnon both have upside to lead those offences too. At WR, Brown, Allen, and Johnson are target hogs who offer solid floors and who can finish as WR1s. Freiermuth isn’t a fancy name, but he gets the targets to be an average option. TE is my lowest upside spot, but I could easily add someone like Everett, Higbee, or Kincaid much later for ceiling plays on the right weeks.

Wrap-Up

This may not be a super practical exercise, but, like with a mock draft, it could give you an idea of who you can get at certain spots. This could be your fantasy team in 2023.
