Week 3 Fantasy HOT HOT Players

Presented By: Manscaped

Week 3 of the NFL has come and gone. In this series, we will be discussing the hot players, honorable mentions, and biggest surprises of the week. This is all based on full PPR, single quarterback leagues and any ownership percentage is based on Yahoo ownership.

Quarterbacks

HOT-HOT – Patrick Mahomes

Saint Patty Mahomes does Patty Mahomes things against the Baltimore Ravens. He put up 40.00 fantasy points total on 31-of-42 attempts for 385 yards, 4 touchdowns, and added another on the ground. He has New England next who is ranking 12th so far this year to quarterbacks. If what Russell Wilson did in Week 2 is any indication, I don’t think Mahomes will have any issue being a top-five option like he is week in and week out.

Honorable Mention – Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is probably the hottest quarterback in all of the NFL so far this season. Posting up MVP type numbers and already setting records to begin the year is a great path to achieving such a feat. Wilson against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday had 36.80 fantasy points on 27-of-40 passing attempts, 315 yards, and 5 touchdowns. He has the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings in the next two weeks, ranked 29th and 11th respectively against quarterbacks so far this season. Look for Wilson to continue in his greatness in the coming weeks.

Biggest SurpriseJared Goff

Jared Goff ends up the number five quarterback on the week posting 27.24 fantasy points on 23-of-32 passing attempts. He also threw for 321 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, and he also added a rushing touchdown. He has the New York Giants next, so look for him to flirt with QB1 type production in that game.

Running Backs

HOT-HOT – Alvin Kamara

Alvin Kamara did his best Mike Thomas impression on Sunday night, catching 13 passes for 139 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 58 rushing yards on just 6 attempts for 44.70 fantasy points. This coming week he has the Detroit Lions who is the 25th ranked team against running backs, so look for a nice repeat performance.

Honorable Mention – Rex Burkhead

Rex Burkhead had 34.80 fantasy points in Week 3. Burkhead rushed for 49 yards on 6 carries and 2 touchdowns. He also added 49 yards on 7 catches and an additional touchdown. The Patriots have KC next on the schedule who is ranked 13 so far this year in 2020. Burkhead could possibly be relegated back to his former role so don’t look for any repeat performances in the near future. He can stay nestled safely on your bench for now.

Biggest Surprise – James Robinson

Robinson ran for 46 yards on 11 rush attempts and 2 touchdowns, and he also snagged 6 targets for 83 yards for a total of 30.90 finishing as the RB4 on the week. What is encouraging here is that he was still heavily involved even when they were playing from behind most of the game. The next three weeks the Jaguars have the Cincinnati Bengals(27th), Houston Texans(29th), and Detroit Lions(25th). Safely trot James Robinson weekly as a great RB2 going forward.

Wide Receivers

HOT-HOT – Tyler Lockett

Tyler “HOT” Lockett had a huge day against a terrible Dallas secondary. He posted 9 catches for 100 yards and 3 touchdowns (37 fantasy points). When Russell Wilson is your QB and he’s just as hot; it’s not unexpected to see Lockett here at the top of the list this week. The Miami Dolphins this coming weekend should at least net Lockett high-end WR2 numbers.

Honorable Mention – Justin Jefferson

His snap count increased nearly 20 percent on the week and was getting open quite often while also posting 7 receptions for 175 yards and a touchdown for 30.50 fantasy points. Justin Jefferson should be the hottest waiver add of the week as far as wide receivers go. I would look for Jefferson to have some nice weeks ahead.

Biggest Surprise –Cedrick Wilson

Definitely, a big surprise here finishing as the WR5 for the Dallas Cowboys. He had 27.70 fantasy points on 5 catches, 107 yards, and 2 breakaway touchdowns. He most likely gets relegated back to being a bench WR, but worth a stash in Dynasty or really deep formats.

Tight Ends

HOT-HOT – Jimmy Graham

Jimmy Graham caught 6 passes for 2 touchdowns on Sunday in a comeback win against the Atlanta Falcons, posting 23.00 fantasy points. So far, Jimmy Graham has been a TE1 on the year, as he is the number seven overall TE. I’m not liking his stretch of games here on the upcoming schedule. The Colts defense is number one against TEs, so I would fade Graham in Week 4.

Honorable Mention – Tyler Kroft

Kroft had 18.40 fantasy points coming out of nowhere to post up a good fantasy day. He caught 4 balls for 24 yards and 2 touchdowns. Kroft filled in admirably for Dawson Knox in Week 3 and maybe this opens up the door a little bit for him to get some more reps with the team. For now, I wouldn’t feel too confident starting him in redraft at all, but DFS might be a good play this week if Knox continues to miss time from his concussion.

Biggest Surprise – Robert Tonyan

Tonyan finished as the TE4 on the week, finishing with 16.00 fantasy points. He had 5 catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. The last two weeks Tonyan has been a startable TE and a lot of this might have to do with Davante Adams being sidelined. Even if Adams was to return, I would say if you’re in desperation mode at tight end, trotting him out there in Week 4 is not the most terrible thing to do.

HOT-HOT – ST. Jude Belly Up Bowl Highest Scorer –

Our own @KEVIN62WILSEA was the highest scorer of the week in all of the St. Judes Belly Up Bowl in Week 3. Shout out to them. Just look at his squad with a total of 161.36
