Week 11 Fantasy Studs & Duds

Hola, amigos! It is nice to talk to you all again after what has been another week in the NFL. Monday night put a ribbon on week 11, with the San Francisco 49ers blowing out the Arizona Cardinals in Mexico City. Speaking of fantasy, I must confess something.

Jimmy Garoppolo. A man who many women and men adore. Whether it’s for his looks or his personality, the man has captured the hearts of many around the country. For me, he means so much more.

When you draft a quarterback in fantasy, you never reach for one in the early round. Unfortunately, I waited too long and was stuck with Tom Brady. I told myself “He’ll be serviceable”.

Fast forward to week eleven, and Tom Brady was dropped because of his mediocre fantasy play thus far. Who would replace him? Enter Garoppolo, who is slowly becoming a consistent play for fantasy owners.

Usually hovering around the 16-17 points-per-week range, the charming quarterback exploded for 25.42 fantasy points against Arizona’s defense. Impressive, indeed. Good enough for the fourth-best fantasy performance by a quarterback this week.

Let’s see who else shined, shall we?

A Cowboy Galloped His Way To The Top

As a Giants fan, it’s hard to praise a player in the NFC East. But, you have to give credit where credit is due.

Despite Ezekiel Elliott‘s return to the lineup, the Cowboys trusted Tony Pollard to lead the backfield on Sunday against the Vikings.

Well, he dominated all right. Pollard rushed for 80 yards on 15 carries, while also contributing in the receiving game too. Six catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns led the team as Dallas blew out Minnesota 40-3. As for the running back, his stat line led to a 36.9 fantasy point day. Back to myself, I actually had him on my fantasy team… on the bench.

Anyways, Travis Kelce had fun on Sunday night against the Chargers. Six catches for 115 yards and three touchdowns equaled 35.5 fantasy PPR points for the star tight end. So much for his production going down because Tyreek Hill isn’t there anymore.

Finally, who would have ever expected Samaje Perine of the Cincinnati Bengals to explode on Sunday as he did? With Joe Mixon exiting early with an injury, the backup tailback didn’t do much on the ground. But, his three receiving touchdowns against the Steelers helped surpass his 5.5-point projection. Final total: 30.2 fantasy points.

Now, don’t go running to pick up Perine. This may be one of those “one-and-done” performances and we may never see him shine like this again. But if Mixon were to miss time, then Perine needs to be picked up.

Fantasy Disappointments, Please Stand Up

Saquon Barkley broke his promise on Sunday. It was supposed to be sunshine and rainbows for the people who started the Giants’ running back. He had the easiest matchup in terms of fantasy against a Lions’ defense susceptible to big plays. His point projection was in the 20s.

Instead, the star running back only rushed for 22 yards on 15 carries leading to only 5.5 fantasy points. The Lions’ defensive line made life miserable for Barkley, and it was not fun to watch.

Vikings WR Justin Jefferson was having a monster fantasy season heading into Sunday against the Cowboys. But, quarterback Kirk Cousins decided to struggle and be terrible in front of a national audience.

Jefferson suffered mightily, but Dallas’s secondary keeping him in check was the primary reason and not just Cousins’ struggles.

Now, I am going to sit here and promise this: Barkley and Jefferson will not have a fantasy performance like this for the rest of the year. Both are too good to struggle the way they did on Sunday.

Let’s hit the waivers and have a great week 12 everyone! I’ll see y’all next week.
