Five Players To Add Before It’s Too Late

Every season there are late-season player additions that make an impact in fantasy football. As recently as last year, Amon-Ra St. Brown was finishing weekly in the 60-110 range for wide receiver rankings before Week 13. After Week 13, he finished in the top 10 in the next 5 out of 6 games. St. Brown was likely responsible for many fantasy championships, and he was likely claimed on waivers late in the season. Here are some potential fantasy football sleepers.

The hard part is finding those players early on in the season before they are swallowed up on the waiver wire. Below are five fantasy football sleepers who could have a major fantasy impact going forward. It would be smart to stash these players early and hope for the big reward later in the season.

Odell Beckham Jr – FA

The former Pro Bowler has been making his rounds in the NFL. He has appeared on the sidelines of numerous teams already and it’s only a matter of time before he’s signed. Odell will likely end up with a contender at this point in his career. Unless a team offers him a huge contract, which is unlikely. He might not be the dominant receiver he was in New York, but he can produce. He could end the season as a deep WR3 or flex option.

Jordan Mason – San Francisco 49ers

This is considered the riskiest selection but could pay huge dividends. Elijah Mitchell and Tyrion Davis-Prince are both out for an extended period of time, and Jeff Wilson has filled the role. However, with Kyle Shanahan that could change in an instant. The Shanahan family loves turning undrafted or late-round running back into a star. The undrafted Mason is next in line to take over starting duties if Wilson struggles. The 49ers also have had a  new leading rusher for 4 years straight. In 2018, it was Matt Breida, in 2019 it was Raheem Mostert, in 2020 it was Jeff Wilson, last year it was Mitchell. Mason is currently only a stash player for now, but if things go his way as history has shown, he will be the Niner’s starter. At least for this year.

Brian Robinson – Washington Commanders

Robinson was in line to start for the Commanders until he was unfortunately shot. Antonio Gibson has done a fine job replacing him, but Robinson is presumably the guy going forward. Before Robinson was shot, there were rumors that Gibson was on the third-team offense. At the very least, when Robinson returns, it should be a running back split. I would recommend picking him up sooner rather than later since he is due back after Week 4.

Jameson Williams – Detroit Lions

The Lions rookie is coming off an ACL injury but should be back mid-season. The receiver from Alabama was projected as the best receiver in the draft. He would also be joining a Lions team averaging over 35 PPG so far this season. He would be the perfect companion to Amon-Ra St. Brown and will see plenty of opportunities against a team’s second cornerback. Recent videos surfaced of Williams running routes and taking quick cuts. He looks as dangerous as ever. This means he for sure has the potential to be a fantasy football sleeper’s dream.

Malik Willis – Tennessee Titans

The Titans are a trainwreck. Ryan Tannehill has limited abilities, Taylor Lewan is out for the season, and they are already 0-2. Derrick Henry also restructured his contract to lower his salary cap next season, meaning the writing might be on the wall. If things continue downhill this season, the Titans could go rebuild and start Willis. The rookie QB will have his issues early, but he is a threat through the air and run. He has the potential to pick up similar numbers to Jalen Hurts. He could be a weekly streamer late in the season if he gets the starting nod. Any of these guys are solid options to become fantasy football sleepers going forward.
