Semtexmex’s DraftKings Week 3 DFS Picks

Semtexmex is back to give you some DFS plays of the week for DraftKings and to win you some money. In Week 2, I went 3-2, with hitting on Derek Carr, Antonio Gibson, and Mark Andrews. I missed on Deebo Samuel and the Bengals’ defense. This week I’m going to do better and give you five more picks. One’s a high-dollar play and the other is a sleeper play. Let’s get some money this week.

Quarterback

Kirk Cousins ~ $6,700

Kirk Cousins is playing a Lions defense that has allowed the third most fantasy points per game to QBs (26.3). Cousins will be looking to shake off the rust of last Monday’s debacle against the Eagles. Look for Cousins to spread the ball around against the Lions. Look for Cousins to have a Carson Wentz-like day against the Lions, Wentz finished QB5 last week.

Derek Carr ~ $5,900

Last week Derek Carr couldn’t pull out the win despite a 20 – 0 lead in the third quarter. He may not be clutch but he’s good for fantasy, finishing QB11 last week. This week Carr is playing the Tennessee Titans who just got destroyed by Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs. Carr has targeted Davante Adams 33% of the time and I don’t see that changing in this game, hopefully, it helps Carr break his routine of only two passing touchdowns. I like Carr at $5,900 this week.

Running Back

Joe Mixon ~ $7,600

Joe Mixon is an RB13 without scoring a touchdown in 2022 and this is the week I think that changes. The Jets’ defense has given up the fifth most fantasy points to running backs (22.1). Last week the team gave up 87 yards and three touchdowns to Nick Chubb. Look for Mixon to exploit this matchup and be a cheaper high-end RB option in DFS.

Cordarrelle Patterson ~ $5,800

Jarrett Bell – USA Today

The Seahawks have given up the most receiving yards to running backs (152). They have also given up the eighth most rushing yards (219). Cordarrelle Patterson is averaging five yards per carry and 5.3 yards per catch. Given that the Seahawks have been so generous to the running back position, I expect Patterson to be a steal at $5,800.

Wide Receivers

Davante Adams ~ $8,400

Davante Adams had a rare bad stat line last week, only putting up two receptions, 12 yards, and a touchdown on seven targets. Look out for a bounce-back week against the Titans, who just gave up 148 yards and three touchdowns as I said in the Carr description. At $8,400 Adams has the capability to at least double his value.

Scotty Miller ~ $3,800

The Bucs receiving core is depleted and they need Scotty Miller more than ever. Miller had eight targets last week and unfortunately dropped two of them. I look for Miller to get a couple of deep shots this week and at $3,800 he could be worth a flyer in DFS this week.

Tight Ends

George Kittle ~ $5,600

George Kittle has returned and his best friend Jimmy Garoppolo is quarterbacking again in San Francisco. So far the 49ers have finished #11 and 10 on PFF after two weeks, meaning the line has been pretty good. Hopefully, this leads to Kittle being more involved in the offense this week. The Broncos have also given up the fourth most fantasy points to tight ends (12.8) per game. At $5,600, Kittle is one of the best deals on DraftKings.

Irv Smith Jr ~ $3,100

Irv Smith Jr almost had the best week for all tight ends last week, but he dropped his second touchdown. Look for the Vikings to continue to utilize Smith as a weapon in the red zone especially with all the attention that Justin Jefferson will be getting. Smith is my deal for tight ends this week at $3,100 for DFS.

Defense

Los Angeles Chargers ~ $3,900

The most expensive unit on the market is the Chargers and rightfully so, as they are playing the Jags this week. When Washington played the Jaguars, they got to Trevor Lawrence ten times and sacked him twice. The pressure made Lawrence off on a lot of his throws and led to an interception. The Chargers have the sixth most sacks (7) and seventh-most interceptions (3). I expect the Chargers to want to keep the Jags off the field, especially with the uncertainty around Justin Herbert‘s status.

Atlanta Falcons ~ $2,700

The Falcons’ defense has been wildly optimistic so far, collecting four turnovers so far. Their turnover percentage per drive is 18.2, which is sixth most after two weeks. Geno Smith has been rather conservative on offense and outside of a tipped pass interception. Smith has been rock solid and has protected the ball well. Smith has taken four sacks in his two games and has looked less than elusive in the pocket. The Falcons are a good bargain play at $2,700 in DFS.
