Euro 2020 Headlines From the Opening Matches

One word to describe the Euro Cup thus far is exhilarating. I have been waiting for this tournament for over a year and I am beyond hyped. It has been a year late but let me tell you it has not disappointed. I am not a morning person but having the Euros at 9am has definitely helped me get into the spirit of it.

There have been surprises all around and I have been here for all the drama. We have seen surprises like Wales grabbing points versus Switzerland and Turkey in exciting fashion. As well as history from nations like North Macedonia getting their first-ever major tournament international goal. Whatever your appetite is hungry for the 2020 Euro Cup has it all. England has looked shaky and the Group of Death with France, Portugal, and Germany has not disappointed. Italy has shown that they are not only a defensive team showing life of being an offensive juggernaut. My father’s native land The Netherlands has looked great and looking brilliant. Spain has been the biggest question mark dominating possession in both games yet getting very vanilla results with two ties.

The best game for me has been Netherlands versus Ukraine and the game had it all. Offense, comebacks and wonder strikes including one from Yarmolenko of Ukraine. His goal was so good a Dutch fan congratulated the Ukraine fans around him out of respect. Overall this tournament has truly had it all.

The Streak

One thing is for certain in this tournament and that is to expect the unexpected with regards to betting it. I have been gambling on every game and I actually have done pretty well for myself as you can see below (knock on wood). As of right now, I am 19-8-3 for an overall record. Not too shabby if I do say so myself but I would be disappointed being below .500 considering I spent hours watching European soccer this year.

Euro Cup Futures

Before the beginning of the Euro Cup, I gave out some futures, and here are how they are looking below. I really like France still and Netherlands has given me a lot of hope with their promising play. England has disappointed me but to defend them I will say they still have not let up a goal during the Euro Cup. I do not think I will hit the other four bets unless England goes all the way but North Macedonia could be sneaky depending on how other 4th place teams perform on the third matchday.

As you can see I have had a lot of fun betting during the Euros and I love trying to help the people. Now I am going to look at Tuesday and Wednesday’s games and give one bet per game. By no means is this smart gambling at all it is actually the considering idiotic. However, given the fact that we get the Euro Cup every four years, I thought it would only be respectful to take every game before it gets taken away from us again.

I am going to give you my best opinions and the lines I get are from Bovada. I am writing this a couple of days in advance so if anything crazy happens and I feel that the pick should be changed I will tweet from my account linked here. Now without further ado here are your Matchday three Euro Cup betting tips!

Euro Cup Group D Matchday Three Predictions: Tuesday

First up on Tuesday we have Group D matches as Scotland takes on Croatia and England and Czech Republic fight for the right of group champion. This has been a very entertaining group and entering the final match all four teams still have the chance to advance. The line for Croatia Scotland is +130 ML Croatia, +200 ML Scotland, +255 draw and over 2.5 (-105). In the other game, it is England -165 ML Czech +600 ML , +250 draw, and over 2.25 goals (Asian Handicap).

Scotland vs Croatia

Initial thoughts are that Scotland is gassed and Croatia is due. I really like Croatia’s midfield with Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić and I think they dominate possession. Scotland has played well and got a terrific result versus England but I fear that they put it all out for that one and do not have enough left in the tank. Give me Croatia ML at +130.

England vs Czech Republic

Now England. I do not know what to think. England has not let up a goal and has done pretty solid as a team. They have good build-up but cannot seem to finish the job. They need a win here if they want to win the group and I think they get it done. Czech Republic has been good but I think England makes some changes and gives more minutes to Jack Grealish up top to link with Harry Kane some more. Czech have been great and they have given us memorable moments thus far and their striker Patrik Shick has been unbelievable netting three goals so far including this beauty below.

However I still love England ML at -165 and Kane anytime goal at +110. Not the best odds but they need a good result before the Knockout round.

Euro Cup Group E Matchday Three Predictions: Wednesday

Group E matchups on Wednesday are Spain versus Slovakia and Sweden versus Poland. This group is really up for grabs. Sweden right now is on top of the group but Poland is in last and at one point they could theoretically still make it out of the group meaning there is a lot to play for still on the last day.

The odds for both games are as followed. Spain -1.75, Slovakia +1.75, draw at +525 and over/under set at 2.75. In the Sweden game it is closer odds with Sweden at +190 ML, Poland +155 ML, draw +255, and over/under set at 2.25.

Spain vs Slovakia

For the Spain game give me Slovakia +1.75. I really think Spain has been the biggest disappointment and to have the spread that high is a little disrespectful to Slovakia in my opinion. A line of 1.75 means that Spain would need to score 2 goals to hit part of the bet earning half the winnings. If say Slovakia loses 2-0 then you would only lose half of your bet as well. Essentially I just love Slovakia to only lose by one goal.

Poland vs Sweden

The Sweden game is much more interesting to me. I really do not know who to choose. But one thing is for sure in my opinion and that is goals. With Robert Lewandowski on the field for Poland I expect at least one goal for them and I really like what I have seen from Sweden on offense as well with Isak. I like this game to go over 2.25 and I really think Isak scores a goal as he has been on fire since the Euros have started. Just needs one to go through.

Euro Cup Group F Matchday Three Predictions: Wednesday

Finally what everyone has been waiting for. The daunted Group of Death. This is exactly what soccer fans around the world should want for the final matchday. France, Germany, and Portugal all can win the group, and underdog Hungary can still advance with a win over Germany!

The games are Portugal vs France which is a rematch all of us have waited to see in a repeat of the 2016 Euro Cup final, and Hungary vs Germany. The odds are France +125 ML. Portugal +280 ML, draw +195 and over/under set at 2.25. In the other game, the odds are not as close as Germany is a heavy favorite. The odds are Germany -2, Hungary ML +1400, and the over/under is 3.25.

Germany vs Hungary

First I am going to look at Germany and Hungary. I really wish I could take Hungary but I cannot. The Germans need a win to guarantee getting into the Knockout stage. In the Portugal game their offense really took off as Champions League hero Kai Havertz has brought his scoring ways on the international stage as well. Hungary needs to win so I think this game is going to get out of hand goals-wise as we see desperation from the underdogs. The game is also in Munich so they really need to get out on a strong foot right away. Give me the over 3.25 goals here.

France vs Portugal

The 2016 Euro Cup Final Rematch. France has superstars all over the field with Mbappé, Kanté, Pogba, Griezmann, etc. Portugal will not be afraid though as they have their own group of stars with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Jota, and Rúben Dias. Overall this game will have its fair share of fireworks.

As you saw above with my futures I am all in on France. I think they have the most talent and they have proved their ability to perform on the international stage. Portugal has of course too and given their 4-2 embarrassment versus Germany they are going to want to prove that they are a legitimate contender for this tournament. I am going to have two bets for this game. First I like France ML +125. I also like the over 2.25 as I think both teams are going get plenty of chances and I expect a similar array of offensive fireworks like the Germany vs Portugal game. France is due for a high-scoring game and this is the perfect one to get it in.
