Fantasy Football

Projecting The Washington FT

Washington Football Team. Say it with me. Actually, I can’t make myself say it again. What can we expect from this team in fantasy? In case you missed it, last time we covered the New York Giants. Now, we go to the Washington somethings, to find out, something.

QB:

Let’s see what ya got Mr. Haskins. No Pressure. Actually, there is a whole lot of pressure, good luck.

Dwayne Haskins: Passing: 286/467-3,299 Yds, 21 TD: 15 INT
Rushing: 39-172-1 TD: 9 FMBL
Standard: 215.16 (30)
0.5 PPR: 215.16 (30)
1 PPR:215.16 (30)

Kyle Allen: Passing: 32/51-376 Yds, 2 TD: 1 INT
Rushing: 7-23 1 FMBL
Standard: 23.34 (39)
0.5 PPR: 23.34 (39)
1 PPR: 23.34 (39)

Haskins has to prove a lot in 2020. The Washington FT signed Kyle Allen, and Haskins will get the nod to begin the year, but poor play could start some murmurs. I suspect he holds the gig for most of the season, and do expect growth in 2020. But I am not confident enough in Haskins to take him as anything other than a flier at the moment. Allen either. I struggle seeing the offense being prolific regardless, but QB is probably the last place I am looking for value on this squad.

That being said, there is upside with both guys. McLaurin is legit. Gibson is a weapon. Losing Guice was horrible. We will talk about that now.

RB:

I had a lot of exposure to Guice. Thankfully, I had more in Gibson. But I am still angry about this. Idiot.

Antonio Gibson: Rushing: 140-669-4 TD: 2 FMBL
Receiving: 78 targets, 57 catches, 587 Yds, 3 TD
Standard: 165.6 (24)
0.5 PPR: 194.1 (22)
1 PPR: 222.6 (18)

Adrian Peterson: Rushing:152-626-6 TD: 1 FMBL
Receiving: 30 targets, 16 catches, 147 Yds, 1 TD
Standard: 118.3 (39)
0.5 PPR: 126.3 (44)
1 PPR: 134.3 (44)

Bryce Love: Rushing: 31-123-1TD: 1 FMBL
Receiving: 17 targets, 12 catches, 92 Yds
Standard: 26.5 (78)
0.5 PPR: 32.5 (80)
1 PPR: 38.5 (78)

Let’s get this out of the way. I was a Guice truther. I thought this was gonna be his year. Turns out, I was pretty wrong. But I made sure to stack Gibson with Guice in almost every league I am in, and now I am glad I did. Peterson becomes relevant with the Guice news, but the guy I want exposure to the most is Gibson.

He was a weapon in college and will be a weapon in the pros. He is dynamic. I expect AD to do some of the grunt work, but Gibson is going to get his touches. I like AD as a flex depth option, and I like Gibson as an RB2. He is the backfield weapon. He is gonna have some volume. In PPR formats, I really like him. He is the type of back you want in today’s fantasy game.

Love still won’t get enough touches to be relevant, but injuries could change that.

WR:

Scary Terry is a beast. He had terrible QB play and still put up an awesome 2019. Expect more in 2020.

Terry McLaurin: Receiving: 118 targets, 71 catches, 1,042 Yds, 7 TD
Standard: 146.2 (23)
0.5 PPR: 181.7 (19)
1 PPR: 217.2 (18)

Steven Sims: Rushing: 8-77
Receiving: 79 targets, 47 catches, 502 Yds, 5 TD: 1 FMBL
Standard: 86.9 (61)
0.5 PPR: 110.4 (61)
1 PPR: 133.9 (60)

Antonio Gandy-Golden: Receiving: 68 targets, 37 catches, 488 Yds, 2 TD: 1 FMBL
Standard:59.8 (82)
0.5 PPR: 78.3 (83)
1 PPR: 96.8 (81)

Trey Quinn: Receiving: 38 targets, 22 catches, 214 Yds, 1 TD
Standard: 27.4 (110)
0.5 PPR: 38.4 (109)
1 PPR: 49.4 (108)

Cam Sims: Receiving: 10 targets, 6 catches, 99 Yds
Standard: 9.9 (145)
0.5 PPR: 12.9 (147)
1 PPR: 15.9 (147)

McLaurin is fantastic. Get him, he is going early though. Last year was enough for me to know he is basically QB proof. He averaged 15.8 yards per catch in 2019. And his QB play was, well, bad. Haskins should be better, and I think McLaurin benefits from that.

Sims is a guy I am eyeing later on. He has some upside, and if Washington FT comes out hot, Sims will be a major benefactor. Sims is the WR2, and he impressed some last year. I don’t expact stardom, but he is a solid second WR for Washington. He can contribute as flex depth.

Gandy-Golden is intriguing also, especially in dynasty. He is a big-bodied big-play guy, and he could feast in the red zone. Don’t expect rookie of the year, but Gand-Golden will have some big games this year.

Ignore the rest. This offense is not prolific enough.

TE:

Thomas has incredible potential, and.. wait is he yawning? Come on Logan,

Logan Thomas: Receiving: 38 targets, 25 catches, 259 Yds, 3 TD
Standard: 43.9 (35)
0.5 PPR: 56.4 (35)
1 PPR: 68.9 (37)

Jeremy Sprinkle: Receiving: 31 targets, 19 catches, 178 Yds, 1 TD
Standard: 23.8 (56)
0.5 PPR: 33.3 (54)
1 PPR: 42.8 (54)

Thaddeus Moss: Receiving: 11 targets, 6 catches, 67 Yds
Standard: 6.7 (76)
0.5 PPR: 9.7 (76)
1 PPR: 12.7 (76)

As you can see, I like Thomas the best here. He has so much potential and we may see some of that as early as this year. Sprinkle doesn’t impress me, and the Moss hype seems way overblown, the dude went undrafted. He intrigues me in dynasty. Not in redraft. Thomas is the only swing I am taking here, because of his upside, but he is anything but safe.

I Project the Washington whatever’s to score 1112.5 points in 0.5 PPR formats. That’s 28th. There are targets to look at here, but the situation as a whole is a bit risky. Gibson has high upside, McLaurin is a blossoming star, but QB play is the big unknown. Tread carefully investing here, many of these guys are high-risk.

Well, now we don’t have to say Washington Football Team again for a while. Sorry Washington fans, but this might be a tough year. There is youth and upside though.
