Fantasy Football

Week Six TNF Studs & Duds

This week marks the first of which we see some NFL teams have a bye week. The Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans have the week off, leaving us with 28 teams left to play and focus on in fantasy this week.

Unfortunately, we had to sit with another Thursday night buzzkill between the Chicago Bears and the Washington Commanders. It was so boring that no touchdowns were scored in the first half. In fact, if you bet on the under 38 points combined between both teams, you won some money.

Fortunately, a touchdown was scored by the Bears in the second half. But, a rushing touchdown by Washington’s Brian Robinson gave the Commanders a 12-7 win.

Of course, we have to dive into the players who gave us a good head start in fantasy and those who disappointed us early. Let’s go!

Fantasy Stud Of The Game: Dante Pettis, WR, CHI

In a game with few scores, Pettis stepped up and delivered. After not scoring since week one, the wideout caught four balls for a team-leading 84 yards.

Formerly of the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants, he has only two seasons with two or more touchdowns. Already with two this season, he could surpass his career total of five he set in 2018.

Now, Chicago still has an underwhelming passing game that doesn’t lead to much success for their wide receivers. Pettis had zero receptions from weeks two to five, and he shouldn’t be too relied on from a fantasy standpoint. But, those who started him in deeper leagues celebrated after his performance against the Commanders.

18.4 fantasy points is quite impressive after being projected to score only 3.5. Props to Dante Pettis.

Other studs included Justin Fields, who also had 18.4 fantasy points. The Chicago quarterback only threw for 190 yards and a touchdown but made his mark with 88 rushing yards on 12 carries. Brian Robinson (12.0) was the leading fantasy scorer for Washington. His touchdown in the second half helped his case.

Definitely a heartwarming sight to see for the rookie from Alabama.

Dud Of The Game: Carson Wentz, QB, WAS

Well, at least one quarterback performed well, right? Wentz was not him. He underperformed against a Chicago defense that has allowed 20 or more points in four straight games.

Projected to score 16.1 PPR points, Wentz only finished with 4.16 points. He only threw for 99 yards and completed 12 of 22 pass attempts. Not all of those incompletions were his fault. For example, watch this.

When your receivers are dropping passes like this, it’s bound to mess up your stats. At least, Wentz can do other things.

The block on the Chicago linebacker was the highlight of Wentz’s night, and questions arise as to whether he should be the starter any longer.

To start the year, Wentz looked rejuvenated. Fantasy performances of at least 27 points in the first two weeks supported this notion.

In week three against the Philadelphia Eagles, things went downhill after not throwing for any touchdowns and fumbling once. Week four against Dallas wasn’t any better when he threw two interceptions. Those two games led to 8.64 and 7.3 fantasy points, respectively.

Week five against Tennesee was when he bounced back with 21.86 fantasy points. But, things went down to earth after this performance against Chicago. This inconsistency cannot keep on going for both fantasy owners and the Commanders as a whole. In a division that has surprised many, Washington is the only team with a losing record.

2-4 is not something to be proud of, and Wentz may be the one to blame for the team’s slow start. In fact, he could lose his starting spot to rookie Sam Howell.

Another dud from this game is Wentz’s teammate Curtis Samuel. The wideout (2.6) has been solid for fantasy owners as of late but only finished with two catches for six yards. Let’s hope he bounces back next week against the Green Bay Packers.
